Dec 7th 2010 2:44PM Can I roll need on this please? It's an upgrade for me guyz.
Feb 27th 2009 5:28PM To the first comment about this article being biased...DUH! It's an article for warriors by a warrior. Why wouldn't it be?
I am actually a hunter by trade, but I love TG warriors. I agree that TG is probably the best 51 point talent in the game right now. Most other classes got a new spell or ability to throw into their rotation, but fury warriors get to wield two badass weapons and /scare the deers in Elwynn forrest just by entering the zone.
It would be great to see dps from hybrids and pure dps classes be somewhat similar and competitive and let it be player skill that is the difference. Unfortunately, that is not the case. With Blizz turning things into AOE battles, classes with good AOE usually win. I spec BM because I love single target damage, but lets face it the only single targets out there are predominately bosses and maybe 1 or 2 big mobs in an instance.
I think Blizz royally screwed the pooch on the release of WOW. The release was smooth, but has since then needed more tweaking to balance things out than I can remember. And it isn't just DK's. It's every class. They wanted so desperately to balance everything they ended up tipping the scales, albeit inadvertantly.
Hopefully, they take their time and get it right for patch 3.1 ! Good luck.
Jan 30th 2009 11:46AM To add to the discussion about BM dps being reliant on pets, I feel that there should be an instant cast 40%-100% heal (w/ a cooldown of course) for the pet or a heal through damage dealt. There are fights where keeping your pet alive and continuing to fight is incredibly difficult because they a) can't avoid things like a player can and b) can't be recalled fast enough to avoid obstacles that could one or two shot them. Heart of the phoenix helps, a decreased cast time on revive pet helps, but there is a point where so much is going on that stopping to rez is tough (not to mention a mana drain). Mend pet can't heal fast enough sometimes...I think if the BM tree is reliant on pets then it should be easier to keep them up. Demo locks get 15% healing through damage for their pets (much like a hunter's t5 set bonus) so why can't BM hunters? That is what spirit bond should have been changed to. Back in BC, that set bonus was awesome and it kept me from having to use mend pet for alot of fights (ex. void reaver). A dead pet does no dps, a pet recalled from aoe does no dps. A pet being healed through AOE damage does do dps.
Plus...Blizzard developers messing up on their numbers? Seriously, how long was this patch in testing and they didn't realize something was wrong? I thought some of them get paid to do math.
May 2nd 2008 9:04AM Definitely Jan Alai with him sounding like Arnold. But what I really like is when soloing the SM Armory and sending my kitty or pig in on Herod and he says "Ah, I have been waiting for a real challenge." I didn't know my pet could be so threatening. Also when he says "Blades of Light!" it makes me thing of the old nintendo game Blades of Steel.
Apr 22nd 2008 4:18PM As in life, WOW has been about those who put in the most effort get the most rewards. Don't have enough time to play WOW like a crack addict? That's fine. Don't have enough time to where even playing casually gets you something? Find another game. MMO's are not for the casual...that is what the Xbox is for. I certainly don't have enough time to play 10 different toons so I focus on my hunter and reap the benefits of being able to do that. I arena with friends, am skilled at my class and get very far PVE wise and occasionally PVP. People need to stop QQing that they can't get their welfare lewtz. Everyone has the time to play 10 arena games (even now that the queue times have decreased). The pleasure behind playing an MMO is largely about your skill as a player otherwise you are setting yourself up to continue to receive total pwnage in PVP and a lack of invitations to raids if you can't play your toon. So why not reward the best players with the best gear? I will be the first to accept defeat at the hands of better skilled players. This system is designed to get people to PLAY THE GAME. Although what they need to do is make ALL the pvp gear require something(the way it used to be). Requiring arena ratings is a way of cuttng down on afk'ers. I bet you some of the same people QQing are the same jerks who afk during bg's. You can't afk your way to good arena ratings. So shut up and play the damn game.
Apr 22nd 2008 8:51AM My best tanking pug had to be when I was on my level 61 paladin. I was healing and this fury warrior(with a shield) decides to start pulling before we have marked up/chosen who is CCing/buffed up. He was pulling with only myself and the rogue in the instance. Needless to say he was PISSED off that we wiped and started blaming us. So, we pressed on to the next pull. The mage joined us so we were ready to CC. He did his intel buff and before he and I could get mana or mark up who pulls the next group? So we were all pretty pissed at this point so I said to the warrior "Hey give me leader real quick" he responds "Why?" and I said "Just do it, I wanna check something real quick." Once leader is passed Bam! he's out of the group and my tankadin continues the fight.
Apr 18th 2008 8:35AM Ok for the hunter who said he doesn't even use his pet: Use it. It's what's called "free dps" meaning: even if you're not spec'd BM your pet is still adding to a % of your dps. So use it or lose it. If you're fighting a boss with a lot of AOE, yeah sure keep it to your side, but if he can hit something without dying then it is worth it. Just a comment, not meant to be mean or anything.
Secondly, I posted a message on the forums yesterday about this. I got a lot of "lulz" and people against the idea. Yes, the spammable focus dump dps abilities are all a little different, but none of them are really spectacular. Adding some new and useful pet abilities would be good. Pets used to retain their abilities when tamed (if I heard that right) until they got nerfed and were all given lame counterparts. Warlock pets also buff their owner alot more than hunter pets do. Granted the BM tree enhances pets, but I still see clothies living through what my pet can do, but getting creamed by felguards. Does that seem right? Why not give raptors cleave, or owls a silence, bats a mini psychic scream, cats a rend abilitiy? It would make choosing a pet more interesting and add to hunter diversity.
Mar 28th 2008 2:21PM I for one support Drysc's comment. How is it fair that premade groups can just steam roll past non-premades? I am part of the Nightfall battlegroup and it blows chunks. I know what you people will say "/wowquit, move to a different server" but before you think i am complaining, my witless friends, I am here to tell you I am fine with being on a shitty PVP server. I pvp in my spare time and love a challenge. If we are going to lose I would rather lose fighting. The problem with people lately is they want to have as close to god mode-esque abilities (like in the days of DOOM) as possible. Sorry twinkies, this is not how the game is designed. You can not /godmode your way to victory and can not /noclip into a fantasy world where you are not living in your parent's basement still trying to master the concepts of pre-algebra. You should have to fight other players tooth and nail like the rest of us do.
As for 70 premades...you either get organized or you fail. Period. Pairing premades with premades helps to ensure that it is not a question of gear, but of organization. PVP racials aside some people are just better at pvp than others. Yes some classes might be OP in pvp, but if you are well organized then you can neutralize those classes first. Not every premade you face will be well put together. Sometimes they pug it and have even less idea of what to do than a random group does. So suck it up, reinforce the mines...if the LM is taken then group up and move on. Try for the Blacksmith or zerg farm and for god sakes someone take out that paladin before killing the dps...he is healing the warriors!
Mar 28th 2008 12:28PM My point was you have a way to regen ur mana(spirit/shadow fiend). When BC came out alot of classes were given a way to regen their mana that they did not have Pre-BC. So what is the use of having AOV if it doesn't work like it is supposed to? Did you think about that?
Alot of raid shadow priests spec into discipline for the spirit buff. In fact that is how I alot of priests I see spec. Our mana regen doesn't start becoming effective until we are already low. Also, you must have missed it when I said if this is the change that Blizzard intended then I will roll with it. I for one am not QQing. All I am really saying is that everytime a patch rolls around something happens to a class that was not intended. This sort of problem is an annoyance, but not a show stopper. Also, I never have a shadow priest in my group. They are there for casters. Even with an S Priest I bet you I will be gulping mana pots.
As for Enhancement Shamans. I really do feel sorry for you. You guys can put out great damage, but have so little mana it's not funny. The only class with less mana is probably a ret pally, but they get it back when they are healed.
Anyways, some of you people need to chill out. I like how people who think they know it all will forum hop to tell me and other hunters how to play our class.
Mar 28th 2008 10:21AM I have also noticed even with AOV on my mana regens very slowly. I was doing some daily quests and I ran out of mana even with viper on the whole time. Some people who are not hunters might not understand why this is annoying so let me explain: Most classes have some way or either rengenerating mana or getting it back quickly(mages with gems/evoc, paladins get mana back when they crit, priests/druids have tons of spirit, etc) Hunters have AOV and if it isn't working properly then we can't dps as well.
Maybe some of you don't appreciate what a talented hunter can do, but for those guilds who have them they know we can be top damage all the time everytime. Don't get me wrong if Blizzard wants to nerf this than I will just have to up my mana pots (which, by the way, I carry 30 pots of varying kinds so shut up if you have a comment about that), but the fact of the matter is a good hunter will lose mana faster than the pot cooldown. Why should we be the only class who can't gain mana back by some means other than potions? Because some level 42 huntard wanted you to run him through ZF so he could get the epic sword?
