How WoW might be played on the Apple Tablet {WoW}

Aug 31st 2009 5:51PM It got dismissed as inferior because we know the hardware tech isn't there yet to provide a playable experience. Did it not dawn on you why they picked Darnassus as the place to demo it? It isn't because that's a high traffic area like Dalaran. Seriously, show us Dalaran, the place where most of us conduct business these days on this tablet, if it doesn't die on load first.

How WoW might be played on the Apple Tablet {WoW}

Aug 31st 2009 5:46PM If you want to play WoW to farm titanium, that's great, but don't represent it as a great gaming experience since that isn't what you are having. Good enough tech still means tech able to provide the full experience and you won't be raiding if you can only farm titanium by yourself because you only get 8 fps at low detail.

Aug 31st 2009 5:39PM Apple charges a "cool tax". You can't be awesome unless you charge more for things than they are worth, that's why marketing is such a highly respected industry.

Aug 31st 2009 5:32PM You couldn't raid on the hardware they intend to put in the tablet anyway, since it will run at about 8 fps by yourself, nevermind Dalaran or a group. There is a reason why they chose to show you running around in Darnassus, and it isn't because that is a high traffic area.

Aug 31st 2009 5:29PM It will run terrible, because tablets have horrible integrated hardware. Maybe Blizz could be persuaded to create "run on a hill of s--t" mode just for Apple tablets. No doubt it will cost a small fortune while still managing to explode.

Battle.net conversion to become mandatory soon {WoW}

Aug 29th 2009 10:41AM You do get a choice. You convert or you don't play. Pretty much the same choice you have every month - renew or don't renew.

The worst part of the media fascination with displaying the kooks at town halls shouting about Obama "causing" socialism and equating him with fascist leaders has been a complete and total dilution of what those leaders actually did, and why there was ever a fear of another leader like that coming to power.

To equate changing your login process to "Stalinism" is ridiculous, just as the idiots ranting about a public option (while most of them are on Medicare!) being "stalinist" is ludicrous. "The term implies an inherently oppressive system of extensive government spying, extrajudicial punishment, and political "purging", or elimination of political opponents either by direct killing or through exile."

Yes, if you don't switch to Battle.net, Blizzard representatives will come to your house and murder you.

Battle.net conversion to become mandatory soon {WoW}

Aug 29th 2009 10:33AM My biggest concern is the advertising rumored to take place on Battlenet. I swear by all that is holy if switching to Battle.net blasts adds at me, which has already been stated as their avenue in the deal with that huge advertising agency, I will never play a Blizzard game again. I love WoW, but that would not only make me quit, it would likely turn me into an anti-Blizzard crusader.

I've been worried about that deal since it was announced. They already double-dip by getting a subscription fee and ads on the forum; ads in the game - which you know all advertisers are dying to have because so many people play WoW instead of watching tv - will probably give them so much revenue they won't care if they lose half the subscribers. That's the truly sad part about it all.

BlizzCon 2009: Blizzard announces cross-server instances {WoW}

Aug 23rd 2009 2:47PM This is wonderful because you can PuG from people your group recommends - you have a larger pool of players now. -GreatHealer or Dontkeybind from your own realm.

Gee, I played against Greathealer in a BG and she knows how to heal. Dontkeybind is the only person on at 7am and I already know he is a ninja and has less throughput than a Shadow Priest. I'll take Greathealer, and Dontkeybind can find other hapless victims.

BlizzCon 2009: Blizzard announces cross-server instances {WoW}

Aug 23rd 2009 2:42PM OMG, a dream come true. I hope this supports raids, too. I can't tell you how many times I want to play in the morning, and there is like 3 people in LFG at 7:00am.

It won't be any different than the way it is now, imho, you will still learn who the scoundrels are, and know who the great players are. You log in and get invited to tank a raid like EoE simply because the healer you worked with in the past is leading it and trusts you to MT, when that raid is successful, the rest know that both the healer who invited you and you as the tank are good people to run with.

That's the way it happens on great servers like Feathermoon who have always PuG raided due to our RP guild structure. This is fantastic - I don't have to know you to PuG, we get to know each other as we go, and we get to know who is a good player and who is not. Cross Server friends list FTW, and if not, irrelevant we remember who is good in BGs, too, the old fashioned way :D

This is GREAT!

BlizzCon 2009: Premonition live raid {WoW}

Aug 23rd 2009 11:16AM Incoming study which "proves" that Premonition would have downed Hogger if they would have had a Paladin tanking.
