NPD: Wii hits 10.9m US sales, becomes console leader {Joystiq}

Jul 17th 2008 6:31PM I agree with this entirely. I have the whole wii60 package, and I will admit, when I get in from work, (if I don't start feeding my Tf2 Addiction) I'll throw on the 360 and mess around on GTA or some other game. But when I have my friends round and we're smoking our way through an ounce of atomic green, my first instinct isn't to sit down and let everyone watch while I show them how good I am at Gears of War on Hardcore. I'd rather box the shit out of one of them and have the lose drink a disgusting cocktail. My Wii doesn't see as much use as my 360, but when it does get used, it's some of the most fun I have with my clothes on.

Sony unveils 256-player MAG: Massive Action Game {Joystiq}

Jul 15th 2008 4:23PM Nah, this is the sort of game where it's just got too ambitious. You may get one or two good games out of this in a lifetime. Where the planets align and people do what the fuck they're supposed to do and the game goes according to plan.

But that just won't happen 9/10 times. Take EVE. EVE tried the same scale with their combat system and that just involves floating in space clicking on someone and it's nigh on impossible to organise the supposed epic battles in that in a pure (ten times more organised) RPG setting.

It's time for a big reality suppository, which is a shame, because in a perfect world. This would be the greatest game ever.

Sony unveils 256-player MAG: Massive Action Game {Joystiq}

Jul 15th 2008 4:12PM I appreciate the thought, and it's nice to see them really trying to stretch the PS3. But MAG will not work.

Period. You will never. EVER be able to organise 256 people you have never met before. You'll be lucky if you manage to keep the squads together. And thats before you factor in the average inteligence of the average person you meet online in these things. A fantastic idea, and I love the principle. But I predict that a massive flop just because people aren;t ready for it yet.
