Nov 4th 2011 1:36PM You just described a floating point number (which computers can do without any extra messiness). :)
May 10th 2011 3:09PM Interestingk.
Apr 20th 2011 11:24AM D&D is part of the DK AoE rotation, but it isn't a good opener for a DK because of the bonus threat. I'd also question a DK doing AoE on any pulls that require focus fire or CC. If you aren't AoE tanking, they shouldn't be AoE DPSing.
That said, on the troggs in HoO, let em go nuts.
Apr 19th 2011 4:57PM Is there a good reason the 1H Agi weapon is listed as an option beyond the expertise?
~91 expertise rating (Racial) + ~96 crit rating (138 Agi) versus 276 AP (138 Str). On top of that, the expertise rating only applies to that single weapon (which means for best effect it needs to be in the main hand). Seems to me that you are better off with one of the 346 Str weapons if you can't get one of the two Str 1Hs out of these instances.
Apr 18th 2011 11:44AM I can't speak for the Horde side, but leveling has been streamlined to be more "Which continent do you want to see?"
On the Kalimdoor side, the quests that lead you into Stonetalon (and all of Stonetalon) are something that just has to be seen. Southern Barrens has gotten an interesting revamp of sorts, and you get to see how the Worgen druids have been getting along with the Night Elves.
On Eastern Kingdoms, you have Westfall which now has a little CSI feel to it. There's the big happenings in Western Plaguelands as well between the humans and forsaken.
And you can actually go from 1-60 on a single continent now without feeling bored to tears by it, which is nice. If you do want to switch back and forth, the key spots to hit seem to be: Stonetalon, Westfall, Western Plaguelands, Southern Barrens. Thousand Needles is a completely different experience now as well, although those are I think the big four places that really show off how far Blizz has come integrating story into questing.
Oct 12th 2010 4:26PM DnD has a threat modifier that HS does not have. 5 seconds is 5 extra ticks of DnD that helps hold a pack on the tank with less effort. Without those ticks, you might have to replace a HS with a BB or similar. Also, ToT, MD and the like are now temporary, meaning that you can't prop up a tank like you can in Wrath (I've seen tanks gain 8k+ TPS from these abilities, on the order of 40%). The tank's threat generation matters more now than it did before.
For Blood Parasites it more has to do with what sort of utility you are bringing to the group. At 10%, your proc rate is probably on average around 30-45 seconds each, and it does group healing. This, and Glyph of Rune Tap (unless they nerfed it) makes Blood DKs pretty useful in 5-mans by helping reduce the healing required on the group. It helps smooth over some of the silly damage DPS will be taking and your healer will go OOM a bit less.
Sep 21st 2010 11:38PM I'm surprised... during my time playing with the new Frost DK builds, I've noticed that the current mainstay of using Glyph of Icy Touch (if you aren't using Glyph of Disease) is eclipsed by using Glyph of Howling Blast now. Not sure why this wasn't at least mentioned.
Jul 27th 2010 5:17PM The problem is that the Blood tank spec is already kinda bloated with CDs, and it gained Bone Armor on top of that.
Jul 27th 2010 11:21AM Grr, they had to make one of the hippogryphs a loot card. Might as well throw my name in the hat too.
Jul 20th 2010 7:56PM I've been playing with various DK DPS builds in ICC25 runs the last couple months, and boy did I notice a huge difference in the AoE threat I put out as Frost. Those Howling Blasts with Killing Machine up are absolutely absurd. Single target threat during boss fights was never a problem though, thankfully.
Frost doesn't seem to take any points in Subversion because it's already pretty constrained on points (best description is that it has about -4 free points), and Subversion is one of the weakest choices to sink a couple points into in terms of raw DPS. I can see how a point or two will greatly make the jobs of the tanks a bit easier, and the Frost DK won't have to throttle as much in exchange for a bit of their DPS output.
