Dear Apple: It's (past) time to let us customize our alert tones {TUAW.com}

Jan 9th 2011 8:44PM I want to be able to assign different vibrations to emails and texts, so when my phone is in my pocket and I can't hear it I can differentiate. Maybe two short bursts for a text, one for an email.

Oct 12th 2009 2:54PM I have a question about recording the audio output on an iPhone. I use a number of instrument/music programs on my iPhone and am looking for a way to do a direct recording of the audio they produce. Some programs, such as miniSynth, let you record and then output as a wav over a wireless network, which is great, but others, such as Thereminator and the outstanding synthPond don't share that function. Is there something that would allow me to record exactly what comes out of the iPhone, perhaps over USB or by some sort of cable that runs from the headphone jack to an audio interface? Thanks!

FCC Responses: Apple's take on the GV apps mess {TUAW.com}

Aug 21st 2009 6:36PM Maybe this is silly, but why should it matter if an app replaces the iPhone functionality? As long as the program isn't harmful to the hardware or network, what non-marketing reason is there to prevent me from replacing the functionality should a suitable application be introduced? I'm still using the phone, stil paying for the plan.

AIM and BeejiveIM updated for push support {TUAW.com}

Jun 23rd 2009 2:03PM Downloaded and tested AIM, no problems at all. Received the message very quickly, the badge pops up just like a text message. I also like that you can set how much information the badge shows in the AIM preferences, from just the name to the full message.

iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3GS: the tale of the tape {Engadget}

Jun 8th 2009 4:53PM What is most confusing to me is why the voice control feature isn't available on the 3G and only on the 3GS. I can't imagine how that would be a hardware matter, which leads me to believe that it's merely to differentiate the new model in a more significant (marketing-wise) way.

May 13th 2009 1:16AM I enjoyed. The fake talent tree was outstanding as well.

Dec 9th 2008 3:01PM Hmmm, I might stop by. It's about 2 blocks from home, and I can talk 826 and WoW with Mike. I'll see if I can get away from my game of Puerto Rico for a bit.

No threat for Lifebloom {WoW}

Jul 28th 2008 3:47PM How exactly does this translate to a resto druid being OP? I don't see a lot of people suggesting that resto is OP in PvE/Raiding, and threat isn't really an issue in PvP, so what's the problem?

Netflix on Xbox 360 and fall's revamped Dashboard / Guide details {Engadget}

Jul 14th 2008 5:29PM Yeah, how dare they provide a useful service to their paying customers. I mean, just because I don't want to drop a whole $50/year shouldn't mean I'm locked out of a hugely desirable service. Those heartless capitalists...
