Breakfast Topic: Is 68 too low for Northrend? {WoW}

Jan 26th 2009 1:04PM I'm in almost the same exact boat. Bringing my fourth toon, a pally, to NR this weekend at 68. Here's the difference though. My first main, rogue was T4-T5; second, warrior, was T4; third, mage had2 pieces T4. The pally is still wearing the Crazy Cenarian Cloak. All the other toons were easier because, A) they were already 70; B) had level 70 gear.
That said, 68 seemed fine for starting Borean and every gear piece that comes along is an upgrade.

World of Warcraft listed as one of the 30 most offensive games {WoW}

Jan 9th 2009 5:36PM BTW, if I play my priest and spend my time fighting demons, do I get some kind of positive credit in this group's eyes? If not, shouldn't that, at the very least, cancel out my warlock summoning a demon?

Jan 9th 2009 5:32PM Great example. In fact, you could almost...almost go so far as to say that the Knights of the Crusade paved the way for the romanticism of the Knight/warrior type. This in turn lead to the fantasy adaptation of that type, which led to WoW/LOTR, etc.

Jan 9th 2009 5:24PM Adam, I pretty much agree with your assessment all the way through except using the cross example. While the bible is bloody and describes a lot of situations far worse then you'll see in WoW, the cross example is used, for church purposes, to demonstrate the suffering. It is not simply gratuitous violence.
That being said, I appreciate your smart alec remarks and recognize my own contempt towards groups like this in your writing. So thank you for that.

Breakfast Topic: Unpopular classes {WoW}

Jan 9th 2009 12:20PM You don't see as many rogues? I would say that is a sign that they are getting better at playing their class.

Get it? Cause the stealth.....

I'll stop now.

Breakfast Topic: Should the girlfriend play WoW? {WoW}

Jan 8th 2009 1:58PM I'm lucky enough to have a Fiance that understands my plight. When I recently made my mage into my main, she bought me a shirt that said, "Sheep them all and let the tank sort them out." So, at least she understands the basics. She's played a little but remains glued to Diablo for now.

Jan 8th 2009 1:55PM This is what I picture on the blank coins if that were allowed:

"Congrats on finding this gold coin. For even more gold, please visit our website at"

FCC Comissioner: World of Warcraft causes college dropouts {WoW}

Dec 11th 2008 3:45PM 1) "I failed out of college years ago because I was playing EQ too much."
2) " My comments did not say I blame the game for my failing out of college, I said playing games contributed to it."

Why would you try to completely change what you said when it's right there above you? You absolutely laid the blame of failing out of college on the games. Not even a good attempt to back-track.

Ask WoW Insider: The ninja debuff {WoW}

Nov 24th 2008 5:08PM I agree with the first poster that nothing is "given" to you in the game. However, rather than some kind of "ninja" debuff, the simple solution to this would be to have the nodes be tapped, just like mobs. As soon as you contact the node it become unattainable to other players for 30 seconds or so. At least, that's the theory.

Upgrading to greens? Not so much {WoW}

Nov 18th 2008 6:44PM Forgive this if it double posts.

I think part of the problem is that there is a traffic jam at level 70 with gear. While there is a difference between fresh 70 and Sunwell gear, it's not as pronounced as the difference between 60-70. The result is that any Northrend upgrade likely covers a broad range of gear. Blizz was left with the choice between "I worked hard for gear, I shouldn't have to replace it right away" and "This rhino just dropped a replacement for my Warblade, WTF?" After the complaints that followed TBC about raid gear being easily replaced by Outland greens, I think they just went the opposite direction this time.
