Nov 22nd 2010 2:42PM We have a guild with over 500 characters and over 200 members that play everyday. Last summer we codified our guild culture in a Declaration of Purpose and Principles. The original was drafted by a committee of two attorneys, an anthropologist, a dedicated non-raider, a dedicated raiders who's been raiding since Vanilla, our guild founder. As guild leader I simply oversaw the process. Once we had a rough draft, all the officers and then everyone in guild had input. I am very proud of what we came up with.
Oct 22nd 2010 11:11AM This is absurd. We are the number 8 guild on our server. I'm the Guild Leader and I am a woman. About half the players in our guild are women. We are also a mature guild with most players being around the age of 40, so maybe that makes a difference. Still this is absurd.

Feb 1st 2010 3:39PM We have three (or four) ratings, just like the movies. Rated R is for hard-core raiders who commit to raiding 2-3 times a week, every week. As large as our guild is (300 plus), we have only just now gotten to the point where we have enough people to guarantee 10 people for the R raids. You have to be ICC ready for this rating, as well.
Rated PG-13 is for those who can fill in for the R group if someone can't make it, but can't commit to being there every week.
Rated PG is for the casual raider. We schedule a couple of PG raids every week to knock off the weekly raid quest.
Rated G is for brand new raiders. We have a G raid every week, too.
We also do Heritage Raids every other week to see old content and get achievements.
This system is working out great for us. Everyone that wants to raid, gets a chance to raid at the level that works best for them.

Sep 28th 2009 8:57AM I was thinking of a Medic/Witch Doctor, but not as a new class, but more like a spec that anyone can learn.
Here's how it would work.
At level 55 you could buy Medic/Witch Doctor/Cleric training. Different Races and classes might have access to different healing so no one could learn all of the healing spells. For example, trolls obviously could become Witch Doctors, but maybe not Clerics. And classes that can already heal couldn't purchase the training.
You could switch to your healer whenever you wanted, but you couldn't switch back for 18 hours or something along those lines, so that there was a cost besides gold for being a healer.
Or maybe it would be entirely gear dependent, and one would have to earn rep with a faction to purchase the healing gear and learn the healing trade. And once you picked your healing faction, you can't change without huge cost.
The spells would actually be a combination of spell and very enhanced first aid abilities. Think of WWII medics. For example a Medic could cast a short feign death on someone who was below 30% health, and would then have to drag them out of harm's way, before applying bandages, which would be instant rather than channelled and have no cool down. The bandages would also have the effect of returning the player to full health.
Medics could also cast a feign death on themselves and would have a channeled revive spell. They could cast a buff to increase spirit or stamina by way of having a raid mascot pet out during the raid. They would have a channeled spell of "physical therapy" which could be used on players while in combat, to apply healing. And so on.
Medics would be immune to aggro from trash but not AOE, and have reduce aggro from bosses, or reduced aggro from trash but increased vulnerability to AOE. Again think of actual medics on the battlefield with their red crosses. Sometimes they were/are actual targets and other times, they get a free pass, so to speak.
These are just some ideas of something I think it would be fun to have in the game, and also make looking for healers less of a pain.
