May 20th 2009 4:12AM One of the main reasons WOW is popular is they also got alot of girls playing it. Some of the darker settings may be too niche for the broad client base that Blizzard would want.
My guess is they will go for a multi worlds idea, Dreamscape, The Net or time travel. This way they can have unlimited settings and genres. Mass appeal getting the Adults, Kids and Second Life players
Sep 29th 2008 4:33AM Very good read, Im in tier 1 and I have found that PQs close to quest hubs are normally popular but the ones further away are not getting done.
My only gripe with the game is that it looks so bad without AA and FFSA turned on at the hardware level. I nearly uninstalled it because the textures looked so poor. Then a guildy reminded me to enable AA and FFSA and the game is transformed like no other. the character now look excellent.
I think I may have finally found a home away frojm wow.
Aug 20th 2008 8:24AM On all of my characters I took one gathering profession plus enchanting. I found I made alot more by disenchanting rather than vendering. Then at 70 took the best 2 crafter skills for that class. I did ditch blacksmithing and retrained skinning on my shammy main. still dont know if it was a mistake.
Aug 20th 2008 4:54AM With the change to potions and downranking I get the impression that mana is going to be the main distinction between PVP and PVE gear. PVE gear will be very heavy on spirit and mp/5 and pvp wont have any. No more full gladiator geared people just chugging potions down and managing to get through the raid content.
Feb 26th 2008 10:21AM Blizzard are balancing PVP at the cost of PVE. The reasons are many but if you look at the forums I would say about 90% are people complaining about their toons being gimped in PVP or others being OP. If they use the forums as a main source of customer feedback their impression would be that Arena is a big deal. I think they believe that raiders will just adapt to these kind of changes and see it as a challenge.
Feb 26th 2008 4:51AM I would be amazed if this change survives the ptr unchanged. They always put up the worst scenerio to see how far off the ideal they are. I would expect them to change the percentages 10% for 15% mana or somthing like that. They will try to balance it so PVE locks who dont go OTT on stam will get a nice buff and PVP with 16k HP will see a nerf.
Feb 22nd 2008 10:15AM Funniest heroic pug i healed in was Tank, Me(rest Shammy) and 3 Arcane/Frost mages. A frost mage was one shotted after pulling agro on nearly every group in the instance. The funny thing was we downed every boss in seconds,
Feb 22nd 2008 4:05AM I have had a shamen for 2 1/2 years. I love him in pve and battle grounds. Hes resto so not much is broken at all. In arenas I struggled along for a while and got sick as even with full S1/S2 vindicator it was just so hard.
So I now play my alt frost mage in arena, got 300 higher ranking with crap gear and enjoy that part of the game with him.
I would love it if enhance becomes the viable 2v2 build as I havent played enhance for a while and its lots of fun.
As previous posts have said if you worry about every little change you will become bitter and twisted.
Feb 19th 2008 4:09AM This is not just for casuals. Raiders will now pickup 10 or so badges per raid. They are going to be able to gear up for the sunwell much quicker.
And its good for us casuals, I play 5 nights a week for 4 hours, but its late after all the guild raids have started. Also if my kids wake up i have to go afk which isnt popular.
Feb 18th 2008 4:25AM Personally I don't believe wow will start declining for another 2 years or so.
Warhammer cannot be underestimated, the IP is very strong with 25 years of lore, novels, and games and already has millions of fans. The IP owners are very keen to see it succeed. I think it will hit 1/2 million subscribers in the first few weeks. These will be casuals and pvp junkies. A lot of them will retain their wow subscriptions I think.
AOC is a very interesting looking game. I think it will do ok, peaking at 1/2 million maybe after a year or so. I don't think the IP is attractive enough to pull in huge numbers. The graphics look awesome and the role prayers may be attracted to the Oblivian style gameplay however the IP is dark and sinister, there are no Elves, Dwarves etc for the D&D crowd.
But the stats don't lie, I think wow is successful because the game is so polished, easy to play and doesn't need an uber pc to look good.
