Also, the Renaissance had no steam-powered technology.

Ubisoft had come to Montreal a long while ago, and thanks to their offices here the world now has the Price of Persia: Sands of Time trilogy, the new Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell and most of their sequels, Assassin's Creed, etc. They already had a presence in Canada, and decided to spread a little further to widen their pool of creativity.
