The purpose of Achievements, and how it's changed over time {WoW}

Aug 13th 2009 4:13PM I can't answer for jfofla, but as for me it is something to do at end game. Keeps me entertained and keeps me playing. I do not have blocks of time to raid so at end game so those "worthless" achievements are my goal/fun. I thrive getting any achievement I can, whether "worthless" or otherwise deemed "worthwhile". That of course leads to the ultimate question of which ones are "worthless" and which are "worthwhile"... all in the eye of the beholder. My Baron Deathcharger achievement is worth a lot to me, but worthless to others so I hear.

I see it this way - I love living in the fantasy world otherwise known as wow and chatting with my friends, if not for achievements I would have dumped wow at end game due to boredome. Win/win for me and Blizzard - smart company and I thank them for it.

Aug 3rd 2009 11:29AM Need to stop spamming and whining and use your heads. He broke the rules and had to pay the price. Start a new account and level fast. With that big of a guild with that much under the belt it would take NO time at all to get the character of his choice in place.

Breakfast Topic: Different states of rest {WoW}

Jul 9th 2009 2:46PM I agree with this statement. WOW would not have "grown" in population because the all those with the "immediate satisfaction" syndrome would not be playing. They would move on to a different game that does allow them to play for 16 hours with no penalties.

However I feel the game would be less dumbed down and more enjoyable for those that do not mind putting time and energy in achieving goals.

Breakfast Topic: Different states of rest {WoW}

Jul 9th 2009 2:36PM This would be good IF it were implemented. I can see DPS going down and the character slowing down as well as armor depleting. Repairs would not fix - only rest would fix these. More on a realistic side. Maybe as your character levels the debuff is nerfed!

Breakfast topic: Are you going to turn off XP gain in battlegrounds? {WoW}

Jul 8th 2009 5:26PM I have twinks and I am fairly happy with the twink BG "fix". I see 2 possible problems yet:

1. BG Que times. I suspect this will go up with BOTH BG sectors :(. I fear the nontwink one will suffer most - but a twink free BG is what was asked for by nontwinks.

2. Premades. Premades are actually the WORST situation in a BG. Not only are they twinks they are organized and grouped up. A good group of 5 will dominate every time. I understand wanting to play with friends or guildies, but twink BGs will suffer because of this. Not much room for pugging anymore.

Jul 8th 2009 5:25PM I have a couple of twinks. For me the greatest fun of twinking is actually creating the twink. Searching instances, AH and doing high level quests to get the "best" gear is awesome. Watching your stam, intel or str go up as you get a new piece of gear is where the real thrill is.

After the twink is complete I still have some fun. Yes I will kill off a low level that attacks me or is running the flag otherwise I try to battle other twinks, because I am out there to compete. I want to fight other twinks and prove that I am the best out there (or not...). I get NO satisfaction with pounding a 17's face into the ground - none whatsoever.

Are you really trying to use logic and reasoning on an idiot?

/slap

Pull yourself out of the fantasy world and ignore the idiot!

Jun 26th 2009 10:12AM 3 twinks and I have never dualled... I am in a twink guild and I can't think of any that go out and dual unless a higher level instigates... I doubt I and my guild are out of the norm, It looks like some heavy stereotyping going on here.

Jun 26th 2009 10:07AM I concur on the wind down. After a long days work and I do not want to think hard about anything anymore I can jump on my low level twink and enjoy.

I too though enjoy most the building of the twink. I have built three and the research and sometimes mundane grinding of gear is really what I need some days. For me the making of them is the best.

I look forward to being in BGs with fellow twinks. No more running with level 10s who deserve to be there, BUT when we are up against a premade twink guild it hurts tremendously. Good close games are always the best.

I seriously hope they are prepared to combine battlegrounds if needed to keep que times down. The last thing I want is to be hanging out for 1/2 hour waiting.
