Breakfast Topic: So much for Children's Week {WoW}

May 8th 2009 1:09PM I'm suffering from World Events fatigue. Noblegarden and its annoying egg farming mechanics, and Love is in the Air before it with the stupid candy, burnt it out of me.

As a result, I just picked up the Orphan on Wednesday night. Did the easy Achievements, then UP, and then went into BGs. Then I realized how much WSG still sucks. So I stopped there. Stupid PvP World Even Achievements. This is not fun.

Walter and Louise Simonson interviewed at NYCC {WoW}

May 4th 2009 7:14PM Goes to show you can care deeply about a universe, and still write/draw crappy stories out of it.

Argent Tournament is for the casual player {WoW}

Apr 21st 2009 3:29PM Just how is this thing "glacial"? I hit Exhalted Champion of Thunder Bluff after 6 days of very quick dailies, and the way I see it, it will take me 1.5 months to get Exhalted with ALL capitals.

I think that's a good pace. It's rewarding, and the jousting mechanics are actually fun.

Ghostcrawler explains why it took five months to nerf Death Knights {WoW}

Apr 17th 2009 4:54PM I just want to say that, in general, the way WoW Insider links to stuff is really annoying.

The link to the Ghostcrawler lengthy response doesn't like to said lengthy response. It links to the beginning of the thread.

That's one of NUMEROUS examples. There's always a crapload of links that don't link to the story, and trying to find the actual link of relevance is a matter of going over links to WI categories, or even sometimes the article itself (huh?)

My request: link less, and link to actual useful, relevant stuff.

Resto4Life is closing its doors {WoW}

Feb 23rd 2009 8:41PM I have to say, Resto4Life was one of the best WoW blogs PERIOD, not just Druid. I loved its artistic sense, its intelligent posts, and the humor and sense of community it had. That was an extremely rare combination.

How is Lunar Festival going for you? {WoW}

Feb 4th 2009 7:17PM I didn't give a damn before about the Lunar Festival, but with the meta-achievement this year, I really gave it a try. I downed Omen for the first time, and visited all those crazy Elders.

Thing is, I really got into it. Trick or treating was fun, but this was different... Some of them were in weird places, others in hard-to-reach spots (always fun to visit Stormwind - came in by the boat), and yet others forced me to visit dungeons I rarely see.

So yeah, I dig it. Got my Elder title, soloed a few Northrend instances by stealthing through, and revisited instances I rarely get to see in WoW Classic. Was fun, and I'm glad I took the time to do it, even though there's no real reward and there's no way I'll replace my Salty title by Elder. :)

Breakfast Topic: Titillating titles {WoW}

Feb 2nd 2009 10:36AM I am the proud wearer of the Salty title. I worked hard to get it; I love the fact it's very difficult, while at the same time not requiring you to raid to get it.

I have fond memories of all the Achievements needed to get it... I remember not getting the Pinchy pet on the first Pinchy, and how frustrating that was. I also remember getting pwned after fishing Lurker Below nekkid, or listening in on the Trade channel for HOURS as I hoped to get Arthas' Gold Coin from the Dalaran fountain.

Then there was the Booty Bay Contest, of course. 3 months of telling my girlfriend not to bother me between 3-4 Eastern on Sundays. A few close calls, such as losing to someone else inches from the quest giver...

Definitely, Salty is my title of choice.

Jame working on an addon, guides for other games {WoW}

Jan 29th 2009 4:30PM "I have to admit that I've never used them [...] Jame's guides turn Azeroth into a list of to-dos rather than an actual game."

That's an awfully big judgment if you've never used them. I have, and they actually made the game a lot more enjoyable for me. They steered me to the right spots, and took the grinding out of leveling by always making sure I was doing quests that were worth my time. They also ensured that I picked up interesting quests that I may have missed (you know, those hidden-away quest givers...) They're also awesome if you're looking to solo to 80, instead of relying on instances for gear and XP.

I have nothing but praise for James' guides. I think it's unfair to dismiss them as "taking the fun out of the game". They add to it by streamlining the experience.

MMO-Champion's Tier 8 preview video {WoW}

Jan 28th 2009 5:52PM "And it is me or does the Tier 8 Warlock gear look like a Grand Apothecary Putress look-alike contest?"

Quite the discerning fellow, are you...

The Queue: Archdruids? Nahh. Okay, maybe. {WoW}

Jan 16th 2009 3:13PM The Archdruid "rumor" is really more a bizarre wish-fulfillment fantasy on the part of WoW Insider. I've never read anything even remotely hinting to that anywhere in Blue Posts, yet WoW Insider keep bringing it up as if it were a genuine possibility.
