The Lawbringer: Let's read Activision Blizzard's 2010 10-K annual report {WoW}

Apr 22nd 2011 4:42PM Read the last sentence after #3.
"The definition of subscribers does not include any players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, or expired prepaid cards."

If someone has an auto-renewing subscription and they're still paying for the game even if they don't play, they do still count as subscribers which from a financial point of view they SHOULD since they're paying customers.

The Light and How to Swing It: No more avoidance caps {WoW}

Nov 10th 2010 3:24PM Don't know if you're be able to hold aggro well, but I remember a video in TBC of a rogue tanking Gruul. He stacked so much agility that with raid buffs (and boss debuffs) he was 100% unhittable. He and like 4 others downed Gruul and just ignored his enrage mechanic of hitting harder and harder and harder because the rogue never got hit.

It will be interesting to see with reforging if it's going to be possible to reach 100% unhittable again. Probably with giving bosses expertise it will not be on latest content, but would not be terribly surprising to me to see a tank with a reforged outfit that's 100% avoidance.

Breakfast Topic: Share your ragequit moments {WoW}

Oct 29th 2010 4:00PM Really?
Someone was mean to you without calling you names so you just ditch all your real life friends?

Did you think about talking to an officer and mentioning how you felt? Maybe ask them to take some sort of action?
Maybe tell the person who was talking you didn't appreciate his comments? Or just put him on ignore?

Picture YOU'RE the GM and one of your real life friends quits the guild without telling you why or giving you a chance to respond. Do you chase them down and beg them to come back or do you think to yourself "Huh, I guess she didn't want to hang out with me any more. That makes me feel rejected and sad."

YOU'RE THE ONE WHO QUIT. You don't get to have a pity party about how hard your life is when it's the result of YOUR CHOICES.

Around Azeroth: Captive audience {WoW}

Oct 21st 2010 2:34PM I know, I love the Lich King Death scene where Bolvar interrupts Tirion and tells him that his destiny is elsewhere and to give him the LK helmet.

But I always kinda wondered "Where'd Bolvar come from?" I had no idea he was hanging from chains at the top of the Citadel.

Soul Shards, talent specs and the 4.0.1 warlock, part 2 {WoW}

Oct 19th 2010 4:01PM I was personally rather disappointed in Bane of Havoc.

I put Bane of Havoc on Marrowgar and used Seed of Corruption to kill Bone spikes since I typically do >500k damage on spikes I was expecting to see 15% of that applied to Marrowgar via Bane of Havoc. So I was disappointed that according to recount Bane of Havoc only did 3,000 damage total.

So I assume AOE damage doesn't count towards Bane of havoc? I guess that makes sense otherwise standard pre-fight strategy might be to gather up a ton of low-level mobs and have them hitting on a tank when fight starts, each lock puts Bane on boss and then aoe's them down for massive damage to boss?

Seems a stretch, but was definitely disappointing that SoC didn't add to it's damage.

Sep 3rd 2010 10:00AM How about addons for guild and raid management?

That's kinda what I was hoping to find in this article.

Aug 27th 2010 4:49PM LOL. I submitted a topic proposal on this about 45 minutes before this post went up.

It was very clearly a topic that needed to be addressed.

Aug 23rd 2010 10:28AM Al Giordino: Well, we're in the desert, looking for the source of a river pollutant, using as our map a cave drawing of a Civil War gunship, which is also in the desert. So I was just wondering when we're gonna have to sit down and re-evaluate our decision-making paradigm?
Dirk Pitt: [coming up on the fortress seen in the cave painting] I don't know - it seems to be working so far.
