Breakfast Topic: The pros and cons of collision detection {WoW}

Jul 12th 2011 2:16AM Ummm all of the "protests" from Everquest1 say "hello" members of various races, classes, or other causes would gather enmasse and block content until a game developer showed up to address their concerns. This is as big a "do not want" on my list as player housing.

Cataclysm beta removes portals from Dalaran and Shattrath {WoW}

Sep 27th 2010 5:38AM @snackpatrol

Did you quit before the LFD tool was implemented ? If so then your post is excusable as you may not know about "sitting around waiting for a dungeon to pop". As a dps this can take anywhere from 1 minute to 30 or 45 minutes. Joining a group to make a portal for someone throws you out of this queue and makes you requeue once the portal is done ostensibly resetting and lengthening the amount of time you have to wait.

So umm yeah unless you are my wife, or someone that lives close enough to offer me food or sex, resetting my LFD wait time isn't happening.

The Lawbringer: WoW in China {WoW}

Sep 24th 2010 11:17AM Yeah this is probably entirely the wrong place to do this however your comment does kinda stick in my craw. Mostly because of the enormous amount of people ignorant to what actual communism is.

They can call themselves communist all they want and walk through the middle of Tienanmen Square with a big ol' cake made to resemble chairman Mau that doesn't make them communist, at least not anymore than me saying the sky is a lovely shade of aqua-amethyst makes it so.

Guest Post: The death of in-game interaction {WoW}

Aug 22nd 2010 5:31PM Oh you know it very well and good do you ?

"...a pervasive pattern of disregard for, and violation of, the rights of others that begins in childhood or early adolescence and continues into adulthood."

Who's rights were violated ?

"Characteristics of people with antisocial personality disorder
* Persistent lying or stealing

Really when did you catch the poster lying or stealing ?

* Apparent lack of remorse or empathy for others

I noticed no lack of empathy. In fact they don't want to inflict themselves on others as much as they don't want others inflicted on them

* Cruelty to animals[4]

Quite the serious charge in the real world can you cite a source please ?

* Poor behavioral controls — expressions of irritability, annoyance, impatience, threats, aggression, and verbal abuse; inadequate control of anger and temper

I haven't seen these from the poster you referenced, however you have seemed a tad irritated and started in with the name calling.

* A history of childhood conduct disorder
* Recurring difficulties with the law

I am truly interested to know how you know so much about the past of the particular poster you were insulting.

* Tendency to violate the boundaries and rights of others
* Substance abuse
* Aggressive, often violent behavior; prone to getting involved in fights
* Inability to tolerate boredom
* Disregard for safety

Yeah ummm I am pretty sure I've mud hole stomped you enough. You see me *I* am a sociopath, or at least I exhibit many of the symptoms, though I TEND more towards being apathetic than out right mean until I get crossed.

Mike Morhaime: Real names will not be required on official Blizzard forums {WoW}

Jul 9th 2010 2:30PM I need to say that I am sorry for all the inconvenience, alarm, and concern that you and your colleagues went through. All *I* did to anyone was look. I didn't try to friend, or even message anyone, nor did I post their information elsewhere.

That being said though, while I am personally sorry on a personal level for any upset caused to any person. When your quarry goes to ground you leave no ground to go to. Blizzard was willing to put all of us in the same harm's way.

It is unfortunate that things went the way they did and collateral damage happened, but that collateral damage got the tide turned.

Jul 9th 2010 1:13PM Is it cynical to think that this is partially due to the number of employees (and their family members) that locked down or deleted their facebook profiles last night ? I watched 5 or 6 go from fully open easy to find web presences (including a wedding site with very detailed information) to almost no presence at all and face book accounts deleted, or moved over to high security (only friends may view).

The Lawbringer: Why you'll never buy gold from Blizzard {WoW}

Jun 29th 2010 11:34PM The third argument is the weakest out of all of them. Did I simply miss your attempt at humor? You're seriously stating that Blizzard would not put Chinese gold farmers/sellers out of business if possible? Why on earth do they ban so many in that case?

I would suspect that, in the situation Blizzard finds itself in regarding China, there is a huge difference between "We caught these accounts are breaking the EULA and ToS so we are banning them." and, "We are going to compete unfairly with these companies and force them to shut down."

The end result may or may not be the same (accounts within a company being banned vs the company being unable to profit) but the road to that point matters with the tenuous at best "political situation" that is present.
