Addon Spotlight: Dominos {WoW}

Jan 20th 2009 8:41PM I switched from Bongos to Dominos when it came out and I love it. Once you learn how setting it up works you can change your setup very quickly and easily. And as mentioned it reuses alot of the blizzard code so it is compatible with many other add-ons. I was using CT_barmod (part of the old CT mod) to do cooldown countdowns and making the icons turn red when you are out of range. I haven't tried it since my great addon purge when WOLTK came out but if it still works, its a really easy way to add both of those functions in one addon.

Encrypted Text: Blizzard called and they want their OP back {WoW}

Jul 23rd 2008 9:47PM @6: Matthew, on mage vs rogue dps: I have a lv 70 mage and rogue, and you may have a point on the damage vs survivability, but there are a lot more fights that are more ranged friendly than melee friendly ones. That combined with polymorph vs rogue CC (in PVE at least) mean that it's super easy to get in a group as mage, but hard as a rogue. For example on my server I see "LF X and mage for H-MGT" several times a night, but I have NEVER EVER seen anyone looking for a rogue for MGT. Just one example, and I'm sure there are counter-examples, but thats what I see alot.

Plus on my mage, I was neck and neck on total damage with a rogue and enhance shaman during most of my kara runs, but once we got to prince... well haha melee types. Pre-2.4 I could stand in one spot and not stop casting the entire fight, except for an evocate and clicking on potions. ("What's this take it easy on phase one stuff?").

Oh yeah, and pre-nerf as a sub rogue, if I could sweet talk my way into a raid, it was hard to die, at least until your vanish fails. :)
(Its pretty funny to see the skull appear on top of your head at 45% health... hmm maybe I should move....)

The joy of grinding {WoW}

Jul 23rd 2008 8:16PM If your protadin was boring then you obviously didn't try or enjoy AOE-grinding. Kill X of Y quests are super fun when you can do the whole quest in one or two pulls. (Hellboars in HFP, anyone?) I find it challenging and exciting to see how many I can kill at once.

When leveling my rogue.... well lets just say that sinister striking over and over until its eviscerate time is.... *yawn* Re-specced out of combat a few days after I hit 70.

Breakfast Topic: Why is this hard? {WoW}

Jul 17th 2008 8:30AM A hunter should really be your second class you play. I think you should pick another, so you can learn the game mechanics. Too many players start with a hunter as their first character, and blithely level to 70 on autopilot. My brother pretty much did that, and I frequently have to explain basic concepts of pretty much every other class to him.

Breakfast Topic: Why is this hard? {WoW}

Jul 17th 2008 8:26AM For me its my hunter that has languished. In a recent burst of enthusiam I leveled him to 15, but considering I created the character over 2 years ago and have since leveled a 70 mage and rogue, a 65 paladin, and 52 lock, well I just haven't made much progress. I guess partly its because the hunter is "easy mode." There's no challenge, unless you do something stupid, then you die swiftly anyway. Also its because hunters have such a bad rep, it makes it hard for me too. Additionally I feel that many hunters deserve the bad reputation, because the class is so easy to play, many players don't learn to play well.

Jul 7th 2008 2:45PM RE: collision detection. Unless you mean preventing big elephants from parking on the mailbox or NPCs, YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR FREAKING GOURD!!!!! PC-PC collision detection would instantly bring send same-faction griefing through the roof. The possibilites are endless.

*shudder*

Breakfast Topic: If you could change one thing {WoW}

Jul 7th 2008 2:41PM I just hate, when youre like 30 levels in on a warlock and you see your new pets name and your reaction is "ewww"
At a bare minimum it should be either:
1. pick the name from this list
2. see all of the names you're getting at the start and literally re-roll until you get a set you like. (Remember rolling to get starting stats?)
3. Random demon name every time you summon. If you summoning the demon from some other demon infested plane of existence, do you have to get the same on every time?
