The Daily Grind: What game would you play were it not for the community? {Massively}

THIS! APB community basically means I could only ever consider it a mild distraction and never something to invest time in.

So starcraft doesn't count as an esport either since the first several minutes are just mining and such?

Granted I do think they could get you into the action quicker, which is what dominion does, skip first few levels, and throw you directly into pvping instead of farming.

Civilization 5: Gods and Kings devs discuss community-driven changes {Joystiq}

Mar 8th 2012 3:10PM @Najaf

Technically Civ5 does have stacking. You can stack 1 combat and 1 non-combat unit.Which doesn't sound like much but can mean a good bit with Mongols' generals' bonuses.

I would guess from thin air, they are removing the limitation on non-combat units, such as workers/great people. I know this was annoying trying to find homes for great people when only one could exist in a city at a time.

The Soapbox: There's no such thing as a miracle MMO {Massively}

Feb 28th 2012 4:21PM @scfs123

That is the point of the article. It might have been a miracle MMO for some. But for others it was forgettable. The same is true of probably just about any MMO. Even the "failed" miracles cited. For every person complaining that TOR is terrible, there another in game playing, thinking "this is awesome"

And they both are right.

Queue no more thanks to Guild Wars 2's overflow servers {Massively}

Feb 21st 2012 3:13PM One thing I don't understand, is why are there still separate servers at all? When you have instancing out the wazoo. Why not let people pick a first and last name (to open up a million more names) and have them all on the same server (or shard).

It is stupid that if I find out my friend plays the same MMO as I, we actually do not, as he is on server X and Im on server Y.

Yes, you still might need to make a different server for different rulesets (pvp, rp etc.)
