Aug 27th 2010 8:34AM I'm a male, I started out after my then GF now wife convinced me to try the game. I started as a mage because because that's what her and her friends could use, with a pali alt. Not long into it my Pali alt became my Main, after that I made a priest, then a shaman, then a druid. Generally I enjoy tanking much more then the other roles, I tend to chaff at the speed of other tanks when I heal, and dps is generally just boring to me.
Jun 8th 2010 10:16AM I'm a Tank, I love tanking, I love taking the hits for others so they can top dps meters and stroke their ego's. I'm a old school tank though, when I tank I look at health/mana bars of my group. If drinks are needed after combat I stop so people can mana up. There used to be a symbiotic between a Tank and their Healer. We were the foundation of the group. They watched my health I watched their mana. If we succeeded in our jobs the run succeeded. That is a relationship I find missing now in a lot of cases. If the healer and Tank can get a long and guide the sometimes over enthusiastic dps things work great.
I try not to be a jerk to newer players I try to give them a chance, however I will leave a group due to gross negligence on their parts. old saying "if you talk the talk you better be able to walk the walk" I don't have much patience for people that act cocky but obviously don't know how to play their class.
Mar 7th 2009 12:24PM I have a enchanter and I make it simple at the start of the dungeon. If a pug asked if we have a enchanter I say "yes" and proceed to tell them if they want me to disenchant the charge is 4 gold from the group. That means 1 gold from each member, it's a one time charge if every drop is disenchanted it's still 4g total. I do not keep the shards and the rest of the group rolls for it.
I may be called a jerk or unethical however I don't care. It is a skill I sank A LOT of gold into to build and it is a unique skill. All the enchanting I do is for tips. People can pay want they wish if they don't use my mats. However DEing can only be done by enchanters so I will charge what I consider to be a reasonable charge for the service.
I don't roll on the ore others mine that I could sell on the AH or prospect with a alt
I don't roll on leather skinners get which I could sell on the AH or send to a alt.
I don't take advantage of other peoples skills but I always won't let my skills be taken advantage of either.
Oct 26th 2008 8:08AM I was a Arcane mage before the patch and am still one, and I love the changes to arcane. I would hold my own in PVP but not do quite as well as my frost talented counterparts, and still do everything in my power to avoid warlocks. After patch 3.0.2, well my pecking order for enemies has changed a bit. YAY arcane.
P.S. Druids, I hated you pre-patch, I hate you now, only difference is, now I can fight back.
Oct 23rd 2008 11:33AM It was my fault, I wasn't a zombie. Was helping out a friend last night who is new to the game, he was lvl 8, and a lvl 24 kept coming up and infecting him when he didn't want to be infected. So after the first couple times, me being a lvl 70 mage would kill the lvl 24 "zombie" before he got to my said lvl 8 friend. I was then told I was "ruining" the lvl 24's play time by killing him. I told him he was affecting my friends time by trying to infect him. Then while he was still QQ'ing about me killing him, I ported my friend to silvermoon where he could level in peace.
Yes I'm a mage, and yes I'm arrogant and pretentious and filled with apathy.
Oct 21st 2008 9:45AM I've been lvling a priest over the last few months (yes months) he kinda takes backseat to my Mage. I started lvling as shadow because everything I read said it was easier. Frankly it was a pain in the arse so at 60 I respec'd to Discipline....and I haven't looked back. I look forward to raiding on him and was toying with the idea of going holy, but after reading this column and comments I think I'll stay Discipline unless my guild requests I go holy.
Thanks for the Column Mr. Low it was great. and Thanks for the informative comments guys.
Sep 20th 2008 2:08PM All rewards should not be for the casual gamer, however themed "Holiday" events and their rewards should be open to all players casual and no life's. As far as "status" rewards oh those of small ego, a real "status" item is something you make your own whatever it is and when people see it they think of you.
Mar 7th 2008 12:47PM I don't hate warlocks, I really don't hate any class, I just think each class skill should be able to be countered by another class's skill, right now fear is the massive CC tool of warlocks. Warlocks = evil, demon loving, very unholy, I would love to see paladin's be able to counter anything dot, curse, or FEAR that a warlock can throw at them. I'm not that biased I play a mage as my main and I've had far more troubles with rogues then warlocks. I would just like to see a counter to fear and the logical class to have to imo is the pali.
