Apr 5th 2008 6:38PM Correction for the author regarding expertise rating: it does reduce your chance to be dodged or parried, but it does not reduce your chance to miss. Therefore, expertise rating is literally worthless for hunters, whose ranged attacks may neither be dodged nor parried.
For a melee DPS class, you will be fighting the mob from behind, which means you should not be able to be parried. However, mobs can still dodge from behind. Thus, Shard of Contempt is a ridiculously powerful trinket for any melee DPS class. For rogues, as mentioned by another poster, it is right behind Dragonspine Trophy as the second-best trinket in the game.
Mar 13th 2008 3:29PM A well-written post, and I appreciate the link to the Roguecraft thread. Unfortunately, you've linked an incorrect Hemo build -- anyone using 0/38/23 is going to deal pretty subpar DPS compared to 11/28/22. 0/20/41 is also a terrible spec in general. The model spec for Shadowstep is something more like 11/9/41, or 20/0/41, or...I dunno, who cares, Shadowstep is TERRIBLE for raiding.
Good clarifications on the hit and expertise caps. Hopefully having this information posted to the masses on WoWInsider gets more people out there understanding it -- though I'm not holding my breath.
