GDC08: The future of MMOs {Joystiq}

Feb 22nd 2008 5:16AM That's so true... Pretty much every "Western" RPG works just that way. From, yes, Diablo (another Blizzard staple), through the Heroes of Might and Magics, Rage of Mages, Oblivion, Neverwinter Nights... All the same model. Except now you can pay money to do it with other people in a large persistent world.

Neverwinter Nights has great free online play, but just not on the same scale.

Jan 11th 2008 5:32AM # Group B:

* From: Jubei'Thos, Frostmourne, Barthilas
* To: Thaurissan

All the Group B realms are Oceanic realms. I have alts on them all, and Thaurissan really could do with some more people.

But is it only me who LIKES the queues? I don't mind if I alt-tab out for 20 minutes and play something else if it means I can get a group once I'm in. Long live queues! I call for nobody on Barthilas to migrate so I still have people to play with!

Getting the most threat out of your Druid {WoW}

Sep 8th 2007 6:39PM Rangifer, that's not correct. When a HoT is cast before combat begins, it doesn't generate threat at all during any point of it's duration. This makes the Regrowth useless.

This is really useful if you're a healer, though, and the tank is about to pull some hard-hitting mobs (like the pulls just before Prince, and for bosses etc.); because you can have SOME healing happen on the tank without being in danger of pulling aggro.

Jun 16th 2007 9:26AM Sometimes you just need one person to type reassuring orders in all caps.

"OK, PULL THE WEST FROSTWOLF MARSHAL, THE WEST ONE."
"LEADER PLEASE MARK __somebeardruid__, HE NEEDS HEALS."
"THE WEST MARSHAL"
"WEST"
"OK, GOOD. NOW THE EAST MARSHAL"

It helps that I'm a healer. People remember that name they saw written in green in scrolling combat text, and actually listen sometimes.

We sometimes even win.

Forum post of the day: Shaman issues in haiku {WoW}

Apr 14th 2007 7:03PM You also need some indication in what season the haiku is set. Every haiku has a season. That is why he used cherry blossoms in there (it's spring). Of course, he might just have used it because it's the stereotypical Japanese image.

Mar 17th 2007 5:15PM This is how you do it:

Copy the picture to MS Paint, and split the image in half, put 20 or 30 pixels of white in between, and make sure they're in the centre of your monitor.

Then, CROSS your eyes - do NOT do the "relax and look through the image" method, this is the reverse. Cross your eyes, and cross them more and more until a centre illusion is created. The pixels of white in between the sides will help you do this.

Then, go; "Cool!".
