Sep 15th 2008 3:46PM "many Paladins are considering speccing Retribution or Protection"
My thoughts exactly. After playing holy almost exclusively for about two years, I've become very tired of spamming the same button over and over again for hours, only to be outhealed by many druids, priests, and shaman (and I have good healing gear, in case you're wondering).
After much frustration, especially in arena, I recently started specing retribution. Even on the current version of live, it's a lot of fun. After feeling gimp in 1v1 and running for my life for years, I'm finally the one who is sending casting classes, hunters, et all into a panic trying to survive. I am two and three shotting mages in most cases. Warlocks are very beatable, especially if my bubble is off cooldown. For my first time as a Wow player, hunters are easy targets. I'm definitely leveling Ret, especially with the nice changes that are coming. I'll still healbot when I absolutely have to, but Ret ftw.
Sep 2nd 2008 3:46PM I've already rerolled druid and gotten it to level 60.
I'm so sick of being gimp as a holy spec in arena. Even when I'm at the top of my game, 1,700+ is almost impossible in 2s. Nothing in the beta so far is going to change the fact that we're mana burn bait. No viable CC's are being added (hammer of resist FTL), and we have no way to get away except a dispellable bubble. Every other healing class has CC's and spell interrupts. Getting spam cycloned, feared, kicked, mana burned, et all while my teammate(s) are getting beat down is really irritating. Having no HoTs = no ability to kite = loss. The 6 second holy shock change will help, but I fear that it won't be enough.
Jul 23rd 2008 8:49AM Paladins did get some love, but I’m still skeptical about the holy spec. Beacon of Light is already being referred to as “bacon” of light. I guess that it’s a new pork talent that no raid will want because of its uber 10 yard AoE range.
My biggest concern about pallies has always been arena viability. I’m still hoping that Bliz has something up its sleeve in that regard. The talent changes to holy shock are definitely nice, but we’re still the most CC’able healing class. Our primary counter, the previously nerfed BoS, is getting nerfed again. The talent to reduce CC’d time will be helpful, but you only have to interrupt a paladin for a split second to stop a heal and affect the outcome of a match. The new arena areas are going to introduce major LoS issues, also, which is another big problem for pallies since we are mostly casting healers. The already useful druid class will benefit here with all of their HoT spells. Their natural CC counters and the ability to CC others will again make them one of the top arena healers.
Mar 21st 2008 8:43AM Drysc responded to one player's voicing of those concerns with a somewhat cryptic reply that he thought they were making a few too many assumptions.
*gulp* Maybe Drysc meant that the S4 rating requirements will go up. 1,800 for a S3 weapon when S4 starts, but maybe 2,000 for S4 weapons?
