Drama Mamas: Raiding deaf {WoW}

Apr 8th 2011 10:31AM @denjira

There are at least 10 people in a raid. One raid leader, who presumably talks tactics. One deaf person, in this case. That leaves 8 people who are currently listening to tactics and don't have anything else to do. Is it really that onerous for one of them to type?

I'm not talking about typing everything in a combat - that's why I mentioned macros and addons (such as DBM).

And I don't blame people for not wanting to be inclusive, but it does sadden me.

Apr 8th 2011 9:36AM Grr argh about the previous guildies.

We used to have a couple of raiders that couldn't/didn't use Vent (one was on a Mac and just couldn't get the right set-up) - we could have raided without them, but as a friendly guild we coped the best we could. As a fast touch-typist, I would transcribe the tactics as the raid leader said them (it's easier to think and speak than it is to think and type, so having a separate 'secretary' makes sense). Macros and addons are good for the actual in-fight stuff - the OP will know better than I do I'm sure about modding WoW to make more sense without the sound.

I find it disgusting that people can't make small adjustments to allow someone to raid with them.

Feb 21st 2011 11:24AM That lift is epic.

"They're coming up the lift..."

"What do you mean, they're coming up?! AAAAAaaaaaa....."

Raid Rx: 4 more healing lessons {WoW}

Jan 31st 2011 6:49AM As a healer, I used to hate it when someone got the Grievous Bite (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=48920) debuff near the end of King Dred in Draktharon. They'd inevitably run back up the stairs, out of line of site of me as I'm trying to get them healed up so they didn't die... And then they'd die. And wonder why.

Mar 19th 2010 11:59AM Good article. I don't know if MMOs attract people with mental illnesses or just that it's a more open forum to admit such illnesses, but I know a lot of people in WoW with various levels of depression and the like.
