Aug 24th 2009 3:13PM Personally, if it's a PUG for a Normal/Heroic 5man, I'll roll on gear regardless of my spec if it is better than what I have. Nice thing about 5mans is they can be be run at least once a day, so getting the gear you want won't take as long as gear from a raid (since you can only run those once a week). So group members should run it again if they lost a roll to someone else.. in regards to ToC, it's a 10minute run. There's no reason to get all pissy if you get outrolled by an offspec.
For example, my main is a Shammy. I prefer playing I'm enhancement, but when I pug, I get asked to heal more often than I would like too. If a dps piece drops during the run and it's better than what I have, I will roll on it, regardless if i'm there as enhancement or not. If the group ain't happy with that, they can find another healer. I'm only there to heal you cause I'm nice enough not to say no when asked to heal.
In raids, if I'm there to heal but don't need any healing gear, but need dps gear, I'll state it at the beginning of the raid.. if the RL is not ok with that, I'll leave.
Aug 12th 2009 11:11AM I apologize, I sorta mentioned tanking leather and mail and didn't really close the statement.. what I really wanted to say is:
"As much as you hate seeing spellpower plate, I hate seeing leather tanking gear, or mail spellpower, or etc... HOWEVER, I don't think eliminating a whole class of gear is justifiable."
I know it was the big change with WotLK, but you gotta draw a line... I mean, geez, if you are gonna eliminate spellpower plate, why not just as well eliminate all classes of gear, and just have it modified on to the spec/class that equips it... like that everyone could equip everything!!!
As for my solution, it does make sense... if you want to be a Prot Pally that heals, just don't take Touched by the Light. As it is, if you spec this way you get spellpower from spellpower gear AND from 30% of your stamina Stamina on gear. When you consider that PVP spellpower plate has large amounts of stamina in most cases, you can end up with about 1500 STA, and 2200SP from healing plate, in prot spec. That equates to about, 2650 SP which is a HUGE increase from one talent.
How is removing SP from gear when prot spec'd with Touched by Light hurting the spec? Prot was never meant to be a healing spec and they should not be outperforming holy spec'd pallies.
Aug 11th 2009 5:31PM Sorry Matthew, but your suggestion is probably not one that would roll over with alot of people.
As much as you hate seeing spellpower plate, I hate seeing leather tanking gear, or mail spellpower, or etc...
I'd rather see something like a change to the talent "Touched by the Light", to read something like this:
"Increases your spell power by an amount equal to 10%/20%/30% of your Stamina, and increases the amount healed by your critical heals by 10%/20%/30%, but negates all spellpower on gear by 100%."
That way, using spellpower gear with a prot spec would mean nothing.
Aug 7th 2009 5:33PM Regardless,
This expansion pack will seem unfinished if Icecrown Citadel is released in the next patch.
Aug 7th 2009 3:36PM Back up a little here...
Why does everyone think 3.3 is going to be Icecrown Citadel/Lich King matchup? I mean, has it been confirmed that 3.3 is Icecrown Citadel or is it just people assuming it is.
I think there will be one more patch before we match up with the Lich King. We still have alot of possible raids. Gun'drak for one is huge and seems unfinished. Wyrmrest Temple has 3-4 unopened raid portals, and let's not forgot the long forgotten Uldum, in southern Tanaris... maybe a conclusion to Uldua (although I'm thinking this will be opened in a later expansion).
I think everyone needs to slow down and take a step back. Opening Icecrown Citadel in 3.3 would seem premature.
Jul 21st 2009 10:12AM Ignore this comment. I found my answer later in the thread.
Jul 21st 2009 10:09AM What happens to people who decide to PUG this and their original Raid Leader decides to extend the Raid Lockout? Does that mean the person who pug'd the raid instance is still saved to this ID, or does it reset on a per character basis?
If it saves the person who pug'd the raid, I see this being a huge problem... especially for people who are part of guild that take off-weeks. You pug during your off-week, and on your on-week, you go with your guild, but if the pug extended the raid lockout, then you are screwed.
Jul 17th 2009 1:11PM Has anyone checked to see if they added Heirloom items at the Wintergrasp vendor as well? Almost each PVE heirloom item you could get from badges in Dalaran, had a PVP equivalent in Wintergrasp pre-3.2?
Can anyone check the vendor and see if this is still the case?
Jan 29th 2009 4:36PM I don't agree with what you said.
Pets shouldn't matter if you use a spec when the pet is a non-critical part of it. If it does, then they Blizzard should be buffing the ghouls Unholy DKs get, or buff the imp affliction locks use most of the time as a mana battery. These 2 specs only get 0%-5% of their dps from their pets. Why should non-BM spec'd hunters be nerfed if other similarly spec'd classes output just as much dps with low dps pets?
Jan 29th 2009 10:03AM I hope they change Explosive shot in no way. I love it the way it is now. And even if they buff BM back up, I think I'll stick with Survival. I have way more fun playing survival than I ever did with BM.
See, the huge downside to BM is if your pet dies, there goes almost half your DPS. Survival, if your pet dies in the middle of a boss fight... who cares? You can still top meters with the pet dead.
A running auto-shot would be awesome, especially for specs like Survival and Marksman. Not only would we have 2-3 instant shots for mobile fights like Heigan the Unclean, but our auto-shots would also be "instant".
Besides, when dual specs are implement, I think I'll make my 2nd spec BM for soloing. Being able to solo 5man group quests is quite exhilarating.
