The spec I linked was directly ripped from front page of retpaladin.com .
If you're so convinced that spec is the most popular high end arena spec then link me the proof.
I don't doubt that people use the spec, I just doubt the popularity of not using SoC.
Mar 4th 2009 4:10PM Then you should have rolled a Holy Paladin to heal those Ret Paladins.
Mar 4th 2009 4:02PM Zach the reason why no Ret Pally picked up Fanaticism is because of Improved Hammer of Justice made your Judgment of Command a 100% crit every 30 seconds. Plus there's much better talents for PvP to spend 5 points into.
This build has been considered the pro build for Arena Ret, or at least some variant of it.
Who ever is using that build has an awesome Arena healer cause it's based around Seal of Blood/Martyr. Besides not picking up Deflection, Two Handed Weapon specialization, and other useful abilities.
Like I told you before Zach, that you should visit www.retpaladin.com. There is much to teach you.
Mar 4th 2009 1:35PM Zach didn't we cover that you don't know how to be a Retribution Paladin? You're a Holy Paladin and you should stick with what you know.
Anyway, no PvP Ret Paladin picked up Fanaticism or Righteous Vengence (beyond 1 talent point). Otherwise how would Retribution Paladins pick up Improved Hammer of Justice in Protection(which was also nerfed)?
Blizzard nerfed these talents because of the introduction to Exorcism, but what they didn't know was that Exorcism even in Naxx wasn't enough to put Ret anywhere near the top the damage meter.
They also did it so Retribution Paladins didn't have a PvE and PvP spec for when dual specs would be introduced. Otherwise Ret Paladins would have a PvE and PvP Ret spec, which would not help the tank/healer shortage. They're trying to promote the idea of Rets having a secondary tank spec or heal spec.
Feb 20th 2009 3:47PM The most powerful DK combo teams are with a Holy Pally. Both extremely tough to kill and both can't be focused fire.
I run a Ret Pally + Arcane Mage setup and we can't kill anything fast anymore. Healing + DPS combos are beginning to rule Arena and DK's seem to be all too common in them.
DK's don't need a healer to essentially stay alive, as they have more heals then a Holy Paladin. They mitigate physical and magical damage pretty well. They can keep on a target constantly with Death Grip and slow effects.
Just like Season ,1 Holy Paladins will get nerfed and it'll effect Retribution Paladins, who are already struggling in Arena. I can certainly see Hand of Freedom being nerfed again, but hopefully that will be compensated with that new promised 11 point Protection talent that nobody knows what it is, if we'll ever see it.
If DK's are going to get nerfed it needs to be towards their self healing and mitigation. This can be easily done by making more talent scale with defense instead of AP or being a fixed value.
DK's seem too well at ranged DPS as I've seen them constantly kill of my Mage arena partner while never taking a swing at him. From full health to nothing, without landing blows on him. Doesn't sound very much like a melee class to me.
Also, being able to do 9k Obliterates(critical) on cloth seems wrong, especially coming from a Ret Paladin who had their burst damage nerfed to nothing beyond 4k (critical)damage with Judgment of Command. Which makes Ret Paladin Hot Fixes seems more of a knee jerk reaction then a real fix.
Certainly doesn't make me feel good knowing a DK can out burst a Ret Pally. Out mitigate a Ret Pally. Out heal a Ret Pally. Have slow effects and a gap closer. More ranged damage then a Ret Pally. Yet, they are considered balanced and no "Hot Fixes" need apply.
Nov 10th 2008 10:47AM Anyone remember Quake Quack? There's a good chance Nvidia is doing the same thing with World of Warcraft.
Oct 16th 2008 1:02PM You may see under geared Ret Paladins taking down people in S4 gear, but do you know how those people got their S4?
Even before the patch you'd see teams with people who have full S4, who fail in the 1600's and 1700's.
Don't even get me started with the Druids, Warriors, and Rogues who would face roll their keyboard and win fights.
Just cause you have the gear doesn't mean you rule PvP. It just means you're very good at face rolling Mortal Strike, or you payed someone to get you S4 stuff. It happens more often then you think.
Oct 16th 2008 9:10AM This only means that Armor Penetration now matters for Retribution. Though I liked the idea of being able to cut through peoples armor, such as Feral Druids going bear.
Sep 30th 2008 6:07PM Why do I believe that this article was made by a Mage player?
Honestly, removing the Mage class? Is this an early April Fools joke? Why do I even read WoW Insider?
Sep 26th 2008 1:04PM This is my classes fucking purpose.
To make every Mage clickable so that every time I click them that they drop a Mage table. That's the purpose of a god damn Mage.
