Raid Rx: Reality check for heroic healing {WoW}

Dec 17th 2010 6:02PM Awesome Russell Peters reference. I LOLed when I read it. I can just imagine him saying that with the chinese accent.

My story: I didn't realize the in-game ilvl calculator (used by the Dungeon Finder) takes unequipped gear into account. I'm a tank/healer (druid) and it just so happened that almost all the slots I was still sporting icc 264 healer gear, I had 316/333 tank gear... and vice versa. So, Dungeon Finder allowed me to queue upon dinging 85. We got through it, Lost City, after about 8 wipes (most caused by me going OOM; melee not running out of AOE was not helping). But, yea, I'm not doing another heroic until I gear up some more.

Scattered Shots: Pure awesome {WoW}

May 24th 2010 6:24PM Hehe, I enjoyed the video. I particularly liked the opening shot of Kharanos. Dwarves pouring out of Kharanos in an unending stream. And then the later shot of hundreds of rifles all opening up on the target dummy. Great production value, Frost.

Maybe Ulduar drakes aren't going away in 3.2 after all {WoW}

Jun 18th 2009 6:39PM A more extreme version of "dismal"? My personal favorite is "ferociously bad".

Popular scams and how to avoid them {WoW}

Jun 12th 2009 5:38PM To be exact-- the definition of social engineering is broader than the description provided. Social engineering involves manipulating people towards some end, any end; it doesn't have to be nefarious. The negative connotation comes about primarily because people (and the media) tend to talk only about the types of social engineering that are negative.

As an example, you could argue that DKP loot systems are social engineering. They provide an incentive for your guildies to come and participate in raids and provide officers some level of influence/control by being able to dock DKP as punishment.

World of WarCrafts: Black Jelly {WoW}

Jun 2nd 2009 1:25AM Let's not forget Grass Jelly which comes from Southeast Asia. It's actually made from a type of mint plant rather than what we commonly think of as grass.

25-man gear should not be better than 10-man gear {WoW}

Apr 1st 2009 7:11PM I think 25man should give better loot but only by 4-6 ilvls, not 13.

A) 25man gear has to be better to give incentive to run the 25mans. However, Blizzard dropped the ball on tuning. Naxx25 isn't hard enough to warrant dropping better loot. 25man logistics is harder, yes. But, Naxx25 is tuned absurdly easy with the sole exception of Thaddius25 and possibly Kelthuzad25. Maly and Sarth+X is significantly harder on 10man than 25man. The 10man is logistically easier, but tuned much harsher (with the sole exception of Thaddius). I would argue the overall difficulty of the two is comparable (logistics and tuning both taken into account). Hence, it's unfair that they drop different loot. The answer is not to make ilvl the same, the answer is for Blizzard to tune the 25man to be a LOT harder than the raids currently are.

B) Sarth+3(10man) is basically impossible in gear available from 10mans alone and this is because of the vast difference caused by 13 ilvls across the 17 gear slots. The vast majority of the big guilds are running 25mans and filling out their gear levels, so Blizzard had to tune Sarth10 that hard in order to give the achievement some meaning. This made Sarth+3 totally inaccessible to the crowd that logistically can only field a 10man raid.

C) Our newbie raiders have zero incentive to run the 10mans (for learning) because of they can see the gear differential and purple fever dictated that they spend their scant Wow time in the 25mans instead of the 10mans. Let's face it, except for Thaddius25, all of lower Naxx is a loot pinata. Sadly, our guild leader ->encouraged

Totem Talk: And you will go forth with dual specs to conquer {WoW}

Feb 19th 2009 6:28PM "... be expected to have restoration as their dedicated off spec..."

Ahem, PvE resto is my MAIN spec. I've yet to decide which PvE dps spec to choose for my off spec. It's not a no-brainer; we have a Resto shammy (me) and an Ele shammy in my 10man. A possibility is to go Enh shammy for off-spec to buff our physical dpsers happy.

The Queue: Soloing Zul'Gurub like a Q {WoW}

Feb 4th 2009 4:23PM Belna, just pointing out that you missed what I said. With emphasis added, my words were "**talented** Ghost Wolf is an instant cast".

The Queue: Soloing Zul'Gurub like a Q {WoW}

Feb 3rd 2009 4:45PM > That means people, especially Druids and Shamans
> who don't have to worry about dismounting, are
> mining the nodes faster.

This isn't true. Druids cannot mine while shifted. I'm very certain that Ghost Wolf cannot mine. Both still have to "dismount"

It is true that they do have an advantage. Flight form is an instant cast and talented Ghost Wolf is an instant cast. It's no different from unshifting, killing a quest mob, and shifting back into a travel form. It's a general advantage to all forms of farming and is not specific to mining.
