Multiple realms offline tonight {WoW}

Aug 27th 2009 9:50PM There is a completely unrelated issue I believe of random people being disconnected off realms not on this list, and being unable to reconnect. For example in my ten man raid, two of us are currently disconnected, the other eight are sitting pretty in game. There were several threads about this on the official forums, before they mysteriously went down too.

Breakfast topic: Are you going to turn off XP gain in battlegrounds? {WoW}

Jul 8th 2009 12:00PM @Sarah

The thing that rankles me the most with your posts is your repeated statements about how Twink matches are "purely based on skill", "emphasize teamwork", with the presumption being that the same can't be said of max-level PvP. I won't argue that high level PvPing is perfectly balanced, that there aren't sometimes significant gear gaps, and let's not deny that you get the occasional moron or honor farmer. But I find it really insulting that you would imply that a person who succeeds at max level PvP is doing so just because of his gear or exploiting a FoTM class, while a person who succeeds in a twink bracket does so because he's a better player. I know from personal experience that if are looking for fun, skillful, teamwork-centered PvP you can find it at 80 just as easily as you can at 19 or 29. It's the same at max level as it is at any level- you just have to look hard for the right community.

Also by pointing out class inequalities at 80 you must also acknowledge that there are imbalances at lower levels. I don't know enough about twinking to say what classes are "best" at whatever bracket, but I can derive from forum chat and the fact that there are great differences in levelling speed between classes that there must be some class imbalance. Heck, druids with travelform at level 16 in the next patch has got to have implications for twink class balance.

The bottom line is this- if you just enjoy the simpler playstyle of less buttons, less abilities (and no freakin DKs) at lower level BGs, if you like the tightly-knit twinking communities, if you love tweaking your gear trying to find the ultimate combination, fine, more power to you! I'm all about people finding ways to enjoy their WoW experience, whether its in PvE, PvP, or in my roomate's case, cornering the AH market on my server and making upwards of 5k gold a day. But you have to realize that as insulting as you find it when people pre-judge twinkers as say, nerds on a power trip who like stomping lowbies, I am as insulted with your unfair comparisons of max-level and low-level PvP.

I also take issue with your double standards about getting killed in a few GCDs. When it happens at max-level PvP it's because of gross imbalances in gear and class differences, but when it happens in twink brackets, it's the poor misunderstood twink who only wants to find other twinks to fight with? You have to understand that for the vast majority of WoW players, our experience with twinks is hugely negative. It's great that you are working to clear up misunderstandings between those who want to twink, and those who just want to BG to level or take a break from questing. But you have to understand that the intentions of the player who one shots my poor level 27 priest don't matter to me. Whether the twink is a high-minded player like yourself who's looking for a fair fight, or just a socially maladjusted ape who wants to pick on people weaker than him, the fact of the matter is I'm dead and there was nothing I could do about it. That's not fun, and that's why a lot of WoW players hate twinks.

I'd also like to point out that many of the problems that you and other twinks have pointed out about high level PvP, namely unequal gear levels and newbs/honor leechers, could be eliminated when Blizzard implements rated battlegrounds.

WoW Patch 3.1 PTR Paladin glyphs {WoW}

Feb 24th 2009 8:45PM I have to disagree with your evaluation of glyph of exorcism, at least as far as ret PvE goes. Exorcism only scales with SP; in my experience it hits for around 1500. Combine that with a 15 second cooldown and napkin math shows you're only gaining about 20 DPS. For a major glyph slot. Blech. Only way I'd pick this up is if it was a minor glyph, especially now that most pallies will be looking to jettison the sense undead glyph.

How have the role forums shaped up? {WoW}

Jan 23rd 2009 11:59AM But yes, I agree completely about the condition of the DPS forums. I think it goes to show the differences in the average mindset and maturity level of a DPS class vs a tank

(of course I'm saying this as a Retpally myself)

How have the role forums shaped up? {WoW}

Jan 23rd 2009 11:55AM Last I checked there is a dedicated PvE forum too for Dungeons and Raids, which means that the Damage-dealing forums should be reserved for... DPS on targeting dummies and leveling content?

"If you want to discuss class balance in PvE or PvP, this is a great place to do it." -GC, sticky on the damage dealing forums

Wrath Dailies: Wintergrasp daily quests {WoW}

Dec 22nd 2008 10:42AM Sorry, the "No Mercy!" quest does not work for kills outside of Icecrown. And just a warning to those on PvE servers- carrying this quest flags you and keeps you flagged for PvP.

I love you WoW Insider, your writing style is generally compelling and you're great at filtering Blizzard news down to the important parts. But one area where you guys tend to screw up is when you give "hot tips" or general gameplay advice.

The Queue: Wrath's current raids and their difficulty {WoW}

Nov 18th 2008 3:24PM I have a question!
Blizzard claimed that spec wouldn't matter as much when trying to fill a role in a regular instance, ie ret pallies could heal, resto druids could go bear and tank, etc. Anyone try this yet? Has this proven to be true?
