Jul 24th 2009 2:21PM the problem is you'd get folks who'd hold onto apartments for three expansions, and they'd be paying next to nothing due to rent control, and that would drive up the cost of player housing for the rest of us.
Jul 19th 2009 11:50PM ele shaman gearing with hunter/enh gear? bad idea. nuff said. my three suggestions for improving ele shamans:
totem of wrath -> earth totem instead of fire. lets you drop searing/magma/explosive totems instead. it also doesn't do "give every fire totem the ToW effect" thing which some people like, but really seems like a clunky mechanic, partly due to the recasting needed with fire totems.
merge spirit and mp5. there isn't really a compelling reason for having two stats do the same thing (give mana regen to casters). just make spirit work at all times, convert existing mp5 into spirit. those talents and abilities which grant mana regen while casting could all be converted into "5/10/15% more mana regeneration from spirit" or such.
give elemental shaman a method of scaling with the new, improved spirit. haste rating from spirit would be cool, since haste is good for dps but bad for mana-per-second. it'd also be cool since locks and boomkins get spell power from spirit, and mages get crit from spirit, and it'd be nice if ele shaman were a little different.
Jul 16th 2009 3:28PM myself, i find Avoidance to be a better talent for instances, where the AoE damage that bosses tend to have can be really nasty for pets who aren't quite as adept at not standing in stuff as players are. for soloing, i like Pet Barding for extra armor (most of the damage you'll face when soloing mobs is going to be physical), as well as Wild Hunt, since an extra 40% of your stamina to a pet is a heck of a lot of health. plus, the 20% more attack power helps that much more for them to keep aggro, obviating the need for Taunt. True, Roar of Sacrifice is utterly useless, but it's worth the waste of a pet talent in order to get to Wild Hunt.
Jul 16th 2009 1:34PM this TBE is utterly nonsensical due to the "no drakes" requirement. Eregos *IS* the drakes. he's a simple fight, burn the boss, take out AoE when they come, and get out of his AoE or die. simple. only... you have to do it on a drake which behaves differently. healing becomes different, tanking becomes different, damage... well that's just damage. kinda. it's still on a drake, otherwise it just isn't Eregos.
instead, i'm putting forth an alternative. Loken on a drake vs. Ley Guardian Eregos. Now, what drake do you think Loken would use? Well, the answer is obvious: his iron modification of a proto-drake, Razorscale. Eregos, though use of whelplings and enrage is able to force Razorscale to the ground, but then the Flame Buffet and Fused Armor starts to stack up, and the the blue dragon is burnt to a cinder.
Jul 14th 2009 5:03PM ultimately, what we should take away from this is that it doesn't matter where someone makes a threat, what matters is the nature and seriousness of the threat.
Jul 11th 2009 10:15PM they ought to just turn all the MP5 in the game into spirit, but let spirit work for all classes all the time. basically, spirit is mp5, mp5 is spirit. blue gems now would come in spirit and stamina. the exact formula for mana regen per second would need to change, but just do it. then it is finally a useful stat to all healers, and if they tinkered with an ele talent or two (gain some percent of your spirit as haste rating, or spell power, or crit rating), it could be useful to all casters. turn a priest's meditation into "you regen 5/10/15% more mana from spirit" or something. it won't be as dramatic a change as the spell damage/healing merger, but it'd be close, and it'd be the right thing to do.
the other immensely useful thing about such a change is it would make all that old world gear filled with spirit actually not worthless.
Jul 9th 2009 6:49PM This T.B.E. comes down to the fight between adds and adds. Both bosses are basically invulnerable when their adds are out, Nadox due to the aura, Anub'arak due to his being underground. Anub'arak's adds are kind of dumb, attacking everything, but that also means they will damage everything. They won't take out the Guardian, since they aren't smart enough to focus, but they do weaken him enough so that when Anub'arak comes out, he can take it out easily. Then, the remaining adds Nadox has are easily dealt with, and the bosses fight each other for a while. Repeat add phases, and Anub'arak will come out on top.
Jul 9th 2009 6:16PM Clevins, i'd like to put forth another situation where the paladin lack of multi-target healing does hurt: Loken. Yep, good old 5-man Loken. Every little while, he does fairly high damage to everyone, and the paladin has to heal through it. Right now, the only tactic a paladin has is to throw Beacon on someone, and then try to spread the heals around. Sure, it'll work if everyone is well enough geared, but the situation really isn't fair. This isn't a raid where everyone has a specific and separate task.
Consider a disc priest in the same situation. They have both Prayer of Mending and Prayer of Healing, and can prevent a fair chunk of that damage with instant shields. Prayer of Healing is a sub-optimal spell for disc priests, but it fills a roll in rare situations. Right now, that is what pallys need. They need something which can help a raid or even a heroic group recover from a burst of AoE damage, even if it is cooldown limited or just so expensive it can't be relied on for more than small bursts of raid healing. Don't need Chain Lightning, and we don't need to be the new raid healers, but we do need some slightly better way to do at least some raid healing in a pinch.
Jul 9th 2009 5:43PM one major benefit of troll/gnome capitals in the maelstrom is that they could replace a lag-fest combined capital such as dalaran or shattrath at their worst.
Jul 9th 2009 5:42PM here is why i think violet proto drake is earned: because it takes several different kinds of things. it takes pvp for a lot of the achievements, as well as heroic instances. sure, none of those are as hard as being on the cutting edge of raiding, but there is a lot to do, and a fair amount it is non-trivial.
