because you need hit for shock and lightning bolt, and since i've read over and over that heals now have to "gauge" their spells there is a lot of dead time between heals.
Sounds like a perfect time to shock, LB, drop a heal with 75% reduced mana cost 30% more effectiveness.

Jul 7th 2009 12:05PM @hunterleigh: try holding down the Right mouse button when you turn around. Also a nifty trick is to hold down left button and when youre at the position you want to be looking at lightly tap the right button, and release both(or hold both to move that way)

Here's another trick for the Poster: V and Shift+V: V shows friendly target's health bars over their heads (sometimes easier to click than a character). Hitting v again removes them. Shift+V does the same but for unfriendly targets (mobs).

Better off Dred:
you need to KILL the raptors during the fight with dred, but you can engage the raptors earlier.
We pulled 2 raptors and dps'd them down to 20%, then pulled another 2 (didnt kill the first) and dps those down as well. then we engaged dred and aoe'd the 4 raptors down very quickly. tank just pulled another 2 and it was easy as pie.

on consumption junction we had the healer stand in such a way that he could heal the tank but was still LoS from the boss. (think of the mobs before Ignis), and 1 dps DK was on the stairs aoeing the adds down. Every consumption he would only get 3 stacks of the debuff, so we had 59 seconds to down him (give or take a few).

Feb 17th 2009 3:16PM Wow guys, some totally uninformed comments.
True Druids can do more dps, or switch out to kitty and DPS, but druids can never do half of what a warrior tank does, (nor paladins or dks for that matter). Thunderclap slows attacks (specially if you spec into improved thunderclap, and who wouldnt?) druids and dks can't wear shields so their thing is a little more damage. Druids wear Leather, can't parry, and their AoE is a "cone" attack. Paladins can never put out damage like a warrior (yes i've seen prot warriors with a 2hander on 1 tank fights put out more dps than a pally tank), and if it is a 1 tank fight the warrior is going to be taking the MT spot. No other class can reflect spells and has as much interrupts as a warrior, so for magic intensive fights your options are warriors and DKs and the DKs anti magic shell/zone (if specced) has a much longer cooldown. Thunderclaps increases time between attacks is a very strong mitigation skill. For AoE, well timed Thunderclaps and Shockwaves generate tons of aggro, if you still need a bit more use a shield spike (thats what they are for).
Itemization for a warrior is the easiest of all. Charges in combat, intervene, and a skill that reduces damage by 10% to another class (vigilance) awesome. Now for threat generation you also get instant free cooldown-less shield slams.

paladins= best aoe, dks second, with warriors as a close third, druids lose mobs to the cone
druids=most aggro/damage, but are heal sponges, no parry, no block, diminishing results on dodge, (thats why you see less and less druid MTs)
DKs= decent dps, no block, good aoe, useful abilities (pull, antimagic zone - very situational)
Warrior= blocks, parries, best magic mitigation, spell reflect, instant aoe, pushback, charge/intercept, intervene, AOE slow (pallys and druids spec into it, jugements and bleeds slow 20% attack speed of 1 affected target), and now also have self heal and the best mitigation cooldowns (shield wall (75%) still being the best, paladins divine favor=50% damg reduction, druids =20% (barkskin altho on a much lower cooldown) dks is like druids less effective on a lower cooldown) last stand is untalented where as druids and dks need to talent into it (and hardly any tanks go blood). Can be immune to fear (untalented as well) And above all that you also have the most stuns with the lowest cooldowns. In other words most adaptability and flexibility and can handle ANY tanking situation.

so prot warriors out there stop the QQ, and start a new higher TPS rotation that has heroic strike as a rage dump, revenge/shield slam whenever its up and keep ur mouse hovered over shield bash and spell reflect if the mob is a caster, and hotkey TC and Shockwave for AoE pulls (use challenging roar more freely, the 3min cooldown now makes it practically useful every pull)
Also use your cooldowns a bit more (since their cooldowns got reduced you can use em up to 4 or 5 times a fight with some talents) shield wall/last stand some more, and use em separately not as an OH SHIT button. Read about fights before hand so you know when to use some cooldowns or when to be ready for spell reflects (phase2 maly) or other situations.

btw: im not a prot warrior (although ive played with a friends' warr and i was putting out more threat than him on his toon) i have a dk tank, a pally tank and a druid tank (warr is taking forever to level) also have a resto druid so i know what its like to heal each tank and druids OMG drain ur mana like you got a leak in your gas tank, an unskilled DK tank can too, and to that other poster, 2h dk tanks are/can be better than dualwield ones, get over yourself.
