Jun 26th 2011 2:26PM It's pretty accurate - the ones that are typically reading this blog (and especially The Queue), or reading anything WoW-related are probably hardcore, or at least not casual gamers. Most of us probably have at least 1 level 85 character, and maybe a few alts as well. The majority of the players in WoW though aren't of the hardcore nature, I'd imagine (nobody has the stats, but it's probably a safe assumption with over 10 million accounts), and so the vast majority of people probably spend a lot of gold on the AH, crafting mats, etc, and getting above that 1000g cap is probably pretty difficult.
Back when I first started in Classic, even having 1g to your name pre-60 was a chore if you didnt' have a high level alt and didn't play the AH. It's inflated a lot since, but the same ideas still hold true that it's harder to make gold without max-level characters and a decent knowledge of the game's economy.
Jun 10th 2011 11:37AM Sorro - do you have a source for said vague hint?
Also, it would be surprising if this year's Blizzcon didn't have some sort of big announcement. Last year's Blizzcon was a bit of a dud as far as hype goes... the biggest things that came out last year were for games and expansions that had already been released.
If I had to put a bet on things, I would say we'll see release dates for Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm, Diablo III and maybe a major (non-expansion) content update for WoW. Unlike everyone else, I'm not so inclined to believe that they'll be announcing any expansions for WoW, and if they do, I wouldn't expect anything very concrete except for maybe a location and the big enemy - 4.2 has yet to be released, and we're sort of on track for 4.3 or maybe 4.4 by the time Blizzcon hits us. That gives them almost a full year of content before they're where people are estimating Cataclysm's life will end with 4.8. A lot can happen in a year in terms of development.
Jun 1st 2011 2:44PM Are any other classes/specs feeling like hunters (and in particular, BM hunters) are getting a lot better treatment than the other classes/specs? Blizzard seems to spend a lot of time giving hunters additional pets and pet skins (usually on per-patch or every other patch basis) and yet other classes don't really get much. I know new pets are an "easy" addition in terms of resources, but they still take resources, and mechanics like these must take time to implement.
May 7th 2011 6:29PM WTB Elemental Column? Anyone...?
Apr 30th 2011 11:42AM Ideally, I just want to see if it's just me who's experienced this sort of scenario, and if it's an issue for others. In a perfect world? Enough responses that someone at Blizzard actually looks at the issue, and maybe comes up with some sort of fix, or at least a reply that's more than a locked thread or deleted post.
Apr 29th 2011 9:05PM Alright, so folks, I've got a 2 parter for you.
Part One: Language Barriers
I got thrown into a dungeon group earlier today, and three of the other folks in the group were from the Gurubashi server. Apparently, a lot of people on that server speak Portugese. I do not. We were playing through Heroic Halls of Origination, and the tank kept making mistakes that were pretty easy to pick out. But i couldn't speak with him. Our healer left after the 2nd wipe on the first boss, and I left after the 3rd. The dungeon finder currently has no way to prevent language barriers, and the new DF function of putting same-realm people together may increase the chances of having more than 1 or 2 non-English individuals in a run on a US realm.
Question - Has Blizzard ever commented about the language issues that you can face using the Dungeon Finder Tool?
Part Two: Forum Threads
I tried to post about this topic on the official forums. The first thread got deleted without warning. I tried rephrasing another post to get some active discussion going, but it got locked by a Forum Moderator. He didn't specify what Terms I'd breached but broadly pointed me towards the guidelines page. Can anyone point out what my breach is?
Apr 26th 2011 2:54PM I'd love one of these to compliment my current Naga/Lycosa setup :)
Apr 25th 2011 11:28AM Azeroth is a round, watery planet, and that's sort of where the similarities to Earth end. There's a lot of possible reasons why this isn't a frozen area. We also know that there's more land that Blizzard hasn't shown off yet, such as Kul Tiras, Zandalar, or (potentially?) Undermine. Also, if you've ever looked at the 3D map of Azeroth in Algalon's chambers, it has nothing but empty space on the "back" side of the world.
Apr 25th 2011 11:16AM Srs Question for the Queue:
Are we going to see an Elemental Shaman column again soon? It's almost been a month since the last one, and I'd like to see something new. Maybe a PTR review, or something? Or, can we get a suggestion of a good elemental shaman blog in the meantime?
Apr 23rd 2011 6:26PM Question:
Where's the Elemental Shaman columnist(s)? The PTR has been up, and is almost down, and I've seen -nothing- on Insider analyzing Elemental shaman changes, drops, or strategies for Patch 4.1. Can we get some love?
