Mar 29th 2011 6:26PM I actually know the animator of Kiwi!. He's a very cheerful person and has always viewed that work in as much of a positive view as he can. He enjoyed making the work and has enjoyed seeing others response to it.
As for what Animators go through to make their work, lots of long hours in front of a computer. :)
Sep 24th 2010 6:02PM Enh is going to be designed for reliance on no intellect on their gear from now on. So more likely than not they won't want any mail int gear, and if they do the developers will probably squash it.
I haven't read any instances of people trying it out, so it must be working as intended for the gear itemization.

A mechanic is different than a buff. A buff doesn't change your perception in any way other than I now hit faster/stronger.
A mechanic really influences everything else in the game. What you're paying attention to at any given time. Reacting to a cooldown, paying attention to mana/energy...etc.
Your examples are buffs and main nukes. Not really all that mechanic although main nukes do factor in towards the mechanics. LB is our main nuke, you may see interaction with Lightning Shield, I just don't think they'll do a simple copy and paste because it's not necessarily a buff or a main nuke. And it doesn't make it all that interesting. Or maybe I'm just being optimistic and hoping for a bit more complexity in how they'll implement it.
Aug 19th 2010 4:29PM I doubt that the developers will be unoriginal enough to provide a carbon copy of Static Shock that procs off spells. It's not really their style. They want classes/specs to feel different and that would not do so well in accomplishing that goal.
I'm not saying it's going to floor the entire Shaman community at it's epic coolness, but I'm at least hopeful that it will be different.
Jul 29th 2010 6:41PM I'm not overly fond with so many mana talents. I understand that we generally have no active way to regen mana beyond T-storm. But I'd like to see maybe only 2 mana management talents rather than 3.
Sure it means that a shaman most likely will end up ignoring one of them depending which ones come out on top. But maybe some more of those interesting talents they spoke of.
Of course I understand it's Beta and prone to change. But that's just my worry from this build.

The removal of Defense as a stat is less about complexity and more about interesting. Plus it removes a layer of stats from tanking gear giving the impression that tanks are not only meat shields but also contributing in the damage.
Stats are being removed/adjusted/consolidated/included for a variety of reasons, complexity, "fun" or interesting factor, new "knobs" to turn...etc. Defense is certainly not being removed because of any level of complexity, because it's not.
And I don't think it's removal is going to dumb the game down at all. In fact I think it'll shift perception a bit (see my second sentence above).
As for the original topic discussed in the post, I feel that given a large enough player base anything can be complained about. I believe putting the crit immunity to the talent trees is the only way to go. It's consistent and will truly define what the spec is made for (in a PvE sense).
If waves of DPS think they'll be able to tank heroics and are unable to then reality will soon wipe out perception.

Of course we're all basing this info as if it was implemented tomorrow w/ no tweaking of the cast times, or anything else. Speculation is fun though :)
Apr 7th 2010 6:51PM Think of it this way Rossi, if haste were a mastery bonus we'd probably have to see an increase in the cast times of LB, LvB and CL as they already all have short cast times. Haste as a mastery bonus would just exacerbate the problem and bring us faster to the point that many ele shams are at right now, where we're spreading our haste buffs out so as not to overlap them (depending on haste levels). I know Crit isn't a strong stat for ele shams, but better to get that so we can focus on haste, mastery, and spell power.
