Jan 28th 2012 6:44AM Whilst I agree that yes, Razion's comment was a lovely story, I have a teeny tiny bit of beef with the closing sentiment of mibu.work1.
Imagine, if you will for a moment, that you are a hunter, new to PVP - specifically, wanting to dip your toe into Arena. You may really enjoy playing your Hunter in PVE scenarios, and so you think "I'm sure I can do at least ok in Arena..." so you start looking into it a little more. You see a news post on your favourite source of WoW news sites out there, and it's title is "Too scared to arena". You think to yourself "Hey, that sounds like me!" so you read the whole thing, comments and all.
Now you come to that last little sentance which questions your decision to play on your hunter; "...don't be a sad tosser like me and try to PvP as a hunter, it won't blow over well with the lads."
Gutted. Defeat, before you even form a team.
I've been a hunter ever since I subbed with this game. I've tried rolling other classes, but nothing will ever feel anywhere near as fun for me as being a hunter. Consequently, all 10 of my character slots on the one server I play on are various different hunters of differing races. Only one of them is level capped, but the rest of them vary from 20~80.
For me, WoW is Hunting. Hunting is WoW. I read a lot about Hunters online, following many different blogs, listening to many different podcasts, looking at the major sources of forum activity and generally keeping well informed. I'm far from an elite raider, due to my guild being more of a social/casual guild who dabbles in a bit of everything. But when I decided that yes, I did want to dip my toe into Arena, despite what people have said, it was such a huge thrill.
For the outright beginner, reading things like "Hunters are not viable at high ratings" may deter you from even trying. But if you think about it, a lot of the vocal people in the community are PVP pros. These are the people who do nothing BUT Arena, and expect to get Gladiator every season they want it. They will say things like "Hunters are useless" and that kind of 'knowledge' will filter down through the ranks, until it becomes 'common knowledge'. These people will suggest you roll a new class that is currently flavour of the month if you want to succeed.
I guess my point in all of this is, if you are a Hunter, and you want to play in Arena - don't roll a new class because that's what everyone else says. Play your Hunter. Play it well. There needs to be more of us out there, doing our thing.
Nov 25th 2011 11:37AM There's a difference between dyslexia and short-hand text speak though. You may well have dyslexia, but it certainly doesn't show. The only impression I'm getting from you is that you're a lazy typist.
Oh, and that you're spitting your dummy out over a game. Grow up, and whinge somewhere other than a FANsite if you don't want to get reactions and resistance from FANs.
Oct 21st 2011 6:58PM This would be perfect for mobile devices :D
Oct 7th 2011 9:08AM I personally don't mind the set itself - heck, I'm unlikely to own it whilst it's current content anyway - but it still irks me that purple is even considered as a colour for Hunters :( The Season 9 PVP gear "ultimate" upgrade (or whatever you want to call it) was coloured purple, and it seems like a slap in the face (lol) for working so hard to look like an imposter.
Forgive me for being a traditionalist, but shouldn't a Hunter strive for the colour green, so as to blend in with nature? Yes, you could argue that nature is many different colours, but isn't green the official class colour for Hunters anyway? I'm not talking about Recount assigning them that colour either - Blizzard did that themselves with class colours for the chat window, and also the mini-map showing party members etc.
I'm holding on to an old PVP set that is coloured green purely for Transmogrification purposes so that I can wear my class colour with pride! I'm a Hunter, not a Warlock with a bow :(
Jun 11th 2011 8:48PM Completely unrelated to the subject (sorry), but I have no idea where else to ask. Below, is a [heavily] cropped screenshot, that doesn't even show what it is that I'm requesting...but it's worth a shot anyway!
In Battlegrounds where there is a flag carrier (I'm looking at you, Warsong Gulch and Eye of the Storm), there is a chunk of text at the top, telling you who is carrying the flag. All nice and useful, yes yes. However, the default settings, make all of the names show up as a lovely garish yellow font.
On one of my alt characters a little while ago, I seem to have enabled something that allowed that tiny bit of text to adjust to the class colours, which was wonderful! Only thing now though, is that I can't quite remember how I did this! Was it through Options > Interface? Was it an AddOn? I just don't know.
I've had a look at some AddOn's floating around, but they all seem to over-complicate the situation. I don't need to change any styling, positioning, size, font or display, just the colour of the default font.
Anyone got any ideas? D:
Jun 3rd 2011 1:02PM Thanks for the replis guys and gals! Those in particular have been bugging me for a little while now, and despite asking in previous Queue's, got to the party too late and was buried deep down :(
Also Amanda; any source on the craftable Honor Gear link? That sounds intriguing for an ALT of mine, but a "slap in the face" (am I doin' it rite?) for my main who already has said gear :p I actually do like that idea though, seems like one of those things Blizzard have done for the greater good, and I like that the fact that the elite PVP'ers will probably be up in arms about it.
Jun 3rd 2011 11:08AM QQ(Q?) for the Queue! As someone who very recently started pvping in WoW, I'm still learning some of the ins and outs of the gear system. For example, What is the difference between the two versions of of iLevel 365 armour sets? One of them requires x amount of conquest points, the other needs you to trade that one in (but requires an arena/RBG raring of 2200). I'd have thought that the latter would've been an upgrade, but all stats I see point to being identical in all but the colour! With the hunter set in particular (Vicious Gladiator's Chain...), this colour 'upgrade' makes no sense, as you're going from the class colour (green), to the warlock's class colour (purple).
What gives? :s
Bonus question; re: Valor Points turning into Justice Points, and the current tier of purchasable goods moving down to also be bought with JP... any ideas if this same thing will happen with Conquest/Honor points/rewards?

May 31st 2011 7:43PM I realise it's probably to late to be noticed by the editors, but still worth a shot nonetheless.
