World of Warcraft: Cataclysm available for download at midnight, Dec. 7 {Joystiq}

Oct 22nd 2010 4:44PM @Dives
Uh excuse me sir but bit torrent is an illegal downloading tool which my ISP in its infinite wisdom has deemed unsuitable for its network

I'm glad they managed to get that Net Neutrality business overturned, whew. Big gummint shouldn't have a say in how my ISP runs its network

Here's that Toy Story 3 PS2 hardware bundle you've been waiting for {Joystiq}

Oct 20th 2010 3:45PM If you have a modern gaming PC, you could probably just buy the game and play it on an emulator..

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow PS3 patch incoming {Joystiq}

Oct 13th 2010 9:22PM @Hayatoblaze91x

These types of issues were less common, but still happened plenty of the time. Battery backed save files got lost all the time, back when they were in your game cartridge

some games would give you a save code that was invalid when you put it back into the game too

I'd say the reason we see more bugs like this is because the games are a thousand times as complicated. There's probably more code involved in the menu screen for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow than there was in all the NES games put together

Konami's classic X-Men arcade game coming to PSN and XBLA {Joystiq}

I played this on MAME with my friend online a few months ago and it was a blast

I guess I'm kind of a sucker though, I buy and play through all of these games no matter how poor their reviews are, haha. If it has isometric walking and fighting, I'm in

Heavenly Sword 2 could have gone to Hell {Joystiq}

Hey guys, it pretty much spells out what's coming at the end of the game right at the beginning of it, so you didn't really get spoiliered that hard

Dungeon Defenders preview: Defense of the Diablo {Joystiq}

Sep 30th 2010 2:53AM @AkashiyaMoka

1. Play dungeon defense and you'll see there's practically no common ground between this and torchlight. I'm not saying that torchlight is a bad game, just that your opinion is _completely baseless_

2. Torchlight is a rip off of Diablo, but Diablo is a rip off of another game, which itself is a rip off of another game. Once enough rip-offs with slight differences come out, we like to call it a "genre"

Blade Kitten review: Not just for furries anymore {Joystiq}

yeah, that'll buy me a month of WoW or almost half of Super Street Fighter 4

why I could pick up a fourth of a copy of Halo for that

Super Street Fighter IV skips PC release thanks to piracy {Joystiq}

Sep 22nd 2010 12:15PM @Rylan

I know a guy who pirated 1,500 games for the Nintendo DS and played all of them for 5-10 minutes. He found about 50 games that were playable in his opinion, and of those 10 of them were good enough that he'd play them for more than 10 minutes (so he went and bought those 10 games at full retail price)

On the other hand, I agree that all our rights as consumers should be taken away in the interest of punishing him

The PC port of SF4 was pretty crappy, in all fairness. It wasn't polished at all, and it lagged horribly because they didn't design it to run at the right framerate unless both players configured their settings a certain way. It also shared the same music muting bug as SF4 for PS3 and X-Box, where you couldn't mute the music completely (without modifying the game files)

It seemed less like a PC port and more like they made an installer for their halfhearted internal playtesting version

It's conceivable that a strategy game could be made which would play OK with hand waving, but Starcraft/Supreme Commander/C&C type games where micromanagement, troop placement, etc factor in would always be inferior to play with a less precise interface
