Blizzard releases Cataclysm system requirements {WoW}

Oct 20th 2010 12:04PM Is the 25GB of free space AN ADDITIONAL 25GB, as in, the game file as it currently is will become 25GB larger? Or is that just the whole game will take up 25GB total after Cataclysm? I reeeeally hope it's the latter o.O

Breakfast Topic: Are real-life friendships more "real" than in-game friendships? {WoW}

Oct 4th 2010 4:42PM I think WoW friends are no less real than people you've seen face-to-face. You've probably shared more intimate discussions with them, spent at least as much time with them, forged relationships with people just as real flesh-and-blood as any of those people you see daily in the meat-space, you're just interacting with them through an intermediary.
If I can't speak for what ever reason, so you and I were to write notes back and forth on a piece of paper, would you say we've never had a conversation? No, you wouldn't. You may specify that our conversations had to be written, but you wouldn't diminish their meaning or value just because I couldn't say all the things we talked about vocally.

I read a really great article a while ago which basically pointed out that to claim "online friends are not real friends" or that they aren't as valuable as "real friends" is not only rather insulting to those people who you are demoting to "fake friend" status, but is also basically ableist. Read it here: I'm not nearly as eloquent as they are.

Sep 15th 2010 12:07PM @Burnaphatone you should watch Jane McGonigal's TED talk about how we can use games to improve our world:

According to her reckoning we have played a collective total of 5.93 million years playing World of Warcraft since it's launch. Jaw, meet floor.
