Does WoW need more minigames? {WoW}

Mar 12th 2012 8:13AM For moderate people this would be fine. I personally dont gamble IRL, but for pixelated gold - sure. HOWEVER, this would have a negative reaction for Blizz (Gambling in a addictive game!) They would be accused of all sorts of things, including trying to addict people to the game, and 'causing' gambling addictions in minors at the very least. For that reason I doubt you will ever see them open a 'cassino'. RNG is about as far as they will go. So enjoy your card turning - its probably as close as you will get to actual gambling.

The Queue: Come to me, Mass Effect 3 {WoW}

Mar 6th 2012 7:31AM Well im probably going to be downvoted to oblivion for this. BUT im gonna say it anyhow.
1) Panda's were - and probably are still - a joke. Literally. I hope blizz have changed them significantly - as this is an 'immersion' breaking deal for me. Kung Fu Panda perpetuated the joke imo. So while i expect there to be various references to that movie, I hope they dont go as overboard as they did in Uldim, with a certain charater. That WAS silly, cut scene, one quest hand in later, cut scene, move to next quest, cut scene.........
2) PVP based conflict. I for one dont PVP. I rolled on a PVE server for a reason. Now all I see is Horde steamrolling alliance, and alliance doing NOTHING. For example the highland quests, the horde are on the offensive, so the alliance......make a wedding happen. A good conflict is one where both sides have gains and reverses. Not when one side basically abdicates. MoP is to 'reignite the Alliance vs Horde conflict'. Really, we gonna get a quest to attack an orc base again, or are we gonna be relagated to picking flowers for the brewmasters, while the horde attack the alliances bases?
3) lack of information - how can i get excited when i dont want to play a panda? Its basically all there is to the expansion - or at least the main selling point. To me that holds no excitement, and theres nothing else really pressing me to look further for more. Is there any world threat? No. KK let the normal troops go over n fight for some grain and farm animals then.
As to deperately need - dont make me laugh. The horde destroy far more than they need with their assults (just play a worgan to see the Scourge...I mean forsaken use plague at every oppertunity on a land that would have fed 90% of the horde on its own). You only desperately need more resourses to continue to assult and rape the land. And that 'shortage' is basically your justification to do so.
Afraid of MOP? nope not a bit. Im sad that talents are gonna be cookie cutters by blizz now, Im sad a joke race will now (temporarily) dominate the areas (the same as DK's did before), Im sad blizz dont seem to have an engaging storeyline for 50% of the alliance races, or even bother to finish them off for the RACE ITSELF. Do i think MoP will be a failure = well I hope not, but I can see a few issues - but im sure they will be solved when the time comes.Will I quit - probably not, but I will quite possibly go from someone almost addicted to wow, to a part timer. And that will be with sadness.

Darkmoon Faire achievement progress reset yet again {WoW}

Mar 6th 2012 5:14AM @ some of the more 'Frothing at the mouth' rabid sort of manics above (ie emberdione for one)

You complain about losing your achievement once you have bought all artifacts (which seems strange to me tbh - do a couple of things and the items seemed to drop like rain for me - so much so I have done all the artifacts on 3 toons and partially on another 2, although i DID by the weapon one for the massive cost of 400g a toon). But the post SPECIFICALLY STATES - and I quote "Completed achievements are unaffected."

So i will lose two part achivements - whoop de do, such a massive deal eh? /sarcasm off

As to calling for 'someone to be fired', this shows that you dont know how programming works, and is rather extreme for a small fault (and this is small - it only affects 3 achivements).

The individual lines of code have probably been tested perfectly well, but there is some secondary or tertiary interaction that causes the error.

It is not as simple as checking your bicyle tires for a leak by putting it underwater. Its more akin to searching a haystack, for a particular stand of hay.

Winners and losers of Cataclysm {WoW}

Mar 5th 2012 9:43AM Agreed. Puttin lore in books is a cheap way to try to generate more money - at the expense of the game

Winners and losers of Cataclysm {WoW}

Mar 5th 2012 9:42AM Cannot agree with this enough - I play the game to PLAY THE GAME. Not to have major portions of lore in sodding books I WILL NOT BUY.

Breakfast Topic: Further discussion of cross-faction raiding {WoW}

Mar 5th 2012 5:52AM Soooo you havent done the world quest then - or looked at the map recently?
Try doing the 'new' old world quests, and see what the 'manufactured' tension comes from.

Try playing a worgan through the starting area, where slyvanus and garrosh are quite happy to enslave and poison the whole of gilinas. (and what is that anyhow - unleash forsaken against a farmland type place, when the horde are meant to be 'short on supplies' which was their excuse to annex other areas - just seems non sensicle to me).

Ditto cross faction raiding. I just dont see how our toons are meant to just trust each other cross faction, when they are out of the raid (and tbh if they could probably in it) would gank you in a second for an extra honor point. Role playing wise, its a complete No-No. If you are JUST centered on the loot, then you probably think its a good idea. If you like playing the game as a fantasy story, then the exceptions are very few and far between. Not common and everyday like most here would seem to like it.
If we do that then it would be simpler to just say the two factions make peace, and now everyone can join forces to defeat LOOTPINTA the new epic threat to the whole universe.

Feb 27th 2012 8:46AM Compete with ranged?
I have a mage ilvl 381, and a frost DK ilvl 365. They do comparible damage. Melee (competent melee that is) can easily beat ranged atm from what I have seen. Heck my DK can out dps my mage - and my mage is my main. My dk I just hit whats not on CD. My mage i have to think and plan what Im doing more.
IMO range need the buff - not melee.

The last gasp of 25-man raiding {WoW}

Feb 27th 2012 7:45AM Whilst I agree 25 mans are on the way out bar some diehards, I disagree with the reasoning of the author.
The 'maze' analogy is particularly wrong. Its not about how complex it is, its the fact you have to ORGANISE 10 ppl or 25 ppl to do it simutaneously. Thats not the same thing AT ALL. The rewards are SLIGHTLY (and by that i mean so slight its negligable) better for 25 man, but that is NOT worth the extra hasstle and burnout the RL/organiser goes through. That said there are examples of 25 man being easier (ie one death does not mean autowipe etc), but again it is not worth the hassle of the organisational difficulties. So basically we are saying 10 man is easier to organise, so its quicker and more FUN in a GAME to do. See my point?
Keep 25 mans sure, some people prefer them, and fair play to them, I wish them all the luck in the world, but I prefer a quicker easier game (organisational wise at least) for FUN, rather than making it another logistic problem I have to solve before we can start killing anything.

Breakfast Topic: What do you think about the current Raid Finder loot rules? {WoW}

Feb 24th 2012 9:20AM Transmog runs in LFR? I dont think so - and tbh while its current content I would vemenently disagree with allowing people to need an item for transmog while another person geniunely needs it to perform his role.
