Apr 4th 2012 4:29PM I'm not in beta, but it seemed obvious to me from the description (which doesn't mean it actually plays this way) that each Apparition button press used up all your shadow orbs to summon one apparition for each orb you have; therefore, if you wait for three orbs you spend fewer GCDs on apparitions for the same damage, allowing you to use the saved GCDs for other damaging spells.
Apr 4th 2012 4:24PM Dark Simulacrum has quite a few PvE uses.
The problem is that the game does a piss-poor job of letting you know that an ability can be copied, and if you make the attempt and it fails it can be hard to know why it failed, since many of the abilities you can copy can also be interrupted, and if it fails you get to wait out the sixty second cooldown.
Apr 4th 2012 4:18PM As far as Replenishment goes, it's less "somebody else is bringing mana regen while we're not when we did it first!" it's more "nobody brings any mana regen buffs." There are a few mana regen cooldowns that can be shared (Innervate, Mana Tide, Hymn of Hope), but nobody brings a constant buff.
Apr 4th 2012 2:31PM I'm just pegging the release at least a month or two before Brewfest. Brewfest is late September - early October, so that puts MoP at a July or August launch.
Apr 4th 2012 2:26PM Currently, Guild XP is a percentage of actual xp; since MoP quests will reward more xp than Cataclysm quests did, you can expect to earn more guild xp. Unless they finally fix it so that it scales with character level which, among other things, means that it would be possible to actually get to friendly with your guild before level 60 or so.
Spell power vs Int? It depends on how much you value crit; Intellect provides spell crit as well as spell power.
Apr 4th 2012 2:19PM Yeah, sometime last year, around Blizzcon, the devs mentioned that their design intent was for brewmasters to use two-handers while windwalkers dual-wielded.
Although with the retirement of boss parry-haste I haven't actually seen anything to explain why one should be better than the other.
Apr 4th 2012 2:08PM The current way that the Glyph of the Demon Hunter works is that it now adds an additional demon form (called "Threatening Presence") which shares a ten-second cooldown with Metamorphosis; I believe the cooldown is like Stealth, where it starts once you leave the form, so you can't flip straight from the DPS boosting form to the tanky form or vice versa.
Threatening Presence is the form that has Fury Ward, a taunt, a threat multiplier, and all that jazz. The only visual difference between Threatening Presence and Metamorphosis is that TP is reported to be a voidwalkery blue instead of purple. And TP's been nerfed and debugged, too; it takes more damage than it initially did (but still far less than any non-tank does) and it no longer has Metamorphosis's extra damage.
Apr 3rd 2012 6:07PM Oh noes! An NPC noticed my character's gender! And he reacts differently to men than women!
That's what I'm hearing there. Surprise! Most people do that most of the time. And it isn't as if there aren't good reasons for that; women and men value different things... well... differently.
Heck, reading Josh's transcript of the lines he's saying pretty much the same thing; telling a guy he 'looks strong' is about as close as is socially acceptable for one guy to tell another he's handsome. So yeah, in either case Firepaw says "Hiyas! You're attractive! I bet you can pick and choose among the opposite gender! Let's be friends!"
I can see an argument that it's insensitive to homosexuals, I guess, but it isn't particularly unlikely that that thought never crossed Jin's mind... nor does one's preference preclude difficulty in avoiding unwanted attention by the opposite gender.
None of this addresses the armor model issue, though; that's an out-of-character choice by the art team.
Apr 3rd 2012 12:49PM "...community overreaction to datamined spells about warlock tanking..."
Um, no, Adam. Not datamined spells. Actually active in beta spells. I rather doubt most of us would have reacted much at all to just the glyph's text, and a lot fewer would have kept looking to find the new spells it swapped in which made it so tantalizingly close.
Don't get me wrong; beta =/= live and it is neither the first nor likely the last time something nifty from beta goes away. But people were reacting to warlocks tanking quite capably (to the point of being overpowered) for most of a week with no dev feedback.
Apr 2nd 2012 6:20PM "In any case, just about everything is going account wide soon* so I'm a happy camper."
Don't get ahead of yourself, pace9. Right now the only thing going account wide is the pets (and the details there are still kind of fuzzy, too.) Achievements, titles, and mounts are in the "probably, but we'll see how the pets thing goes" hopper, and still may never happen.
