Mar 28th 2012 2:27PM "The orcs rewarded Terenas for his mercy by helping defile everything he ever had."
Yeah man, damn those orcs for destroying Lordaeron and spreading a horrible undead plague that turned all the Lordaeron citizens into gruesome undead monsters. If only all the orcs would have been killed, they never would have been able to ruin Terenas' kingdom! Oh wait that's right, the downfall of Lordaeron had nothing to do with the orcs.
Also, you're giving Varian way too much "noble" credit for his actions in Ironforge. What he did was lead a TEAM OF MURDERERS into Ironforge to ASSASSINATE Moira. And VARIAN didn't really create the Council of Three Hammers - he wanted nothing more than to butcher Moira. The Council was really only created because Anduin was wise/merciful enough to halt his murderous father.
I'm not saying Varian wasn't completely justified, mind you. But don't say he went in there as some virtuous champion out to set things right. He went in to kill Moira, and save Anduin. Nothing more.

Sep 19th 2011 2:38PM Happy Birthday Anne! Nothing makes a lore-lover's day like a little wild but intriguing speculation, right? ;D
Aug 30th 2011 4:19PM You forgot the Blacksmithing boots, Warboots of Mighty Lords.
Aug 11th 2011 12:57PM BACK IN BUSINESS
Aug 8th 2011 1:14PM You really need to do your research on Raid IDs and lockouts before writing a column like this. You are completely wrong about how they function and it changes much about what you advise doing.
We've already established that they're not downing bosses, so there is no possible lockout issues or anything like that. So they're going in and farming something on their own time and you expect them to share the money? Do you expect a cut of their Herb profits if they go farm Herbs in Uldum for a few hours? Don't be ridiculous.
Also, something you may not realize - having more people in a solo Firelands trash run is a DISADVANTAGE if they are doing anything. I do this periodically on my Frost DK and if someone else is in there DPSing the hounds/scorpions etc, it messes everything up because soloing the trash requires solid aggro. So I also never ask if anyone else wants to come, unless they simply sit there for rep or loot corpses as they drop (without actually DPSing).
Sep 29th 2010 3:12PM I think the past-life hatred any newly-risen Forsaken would have felt towards the orcs is quickly overshadowed by the immediate bitterness that comes from being hunted/persecuted/despised by their own former human allies, despite having done nothing wrong except be murdered by the Scourge. :P
Sep 29th 2010 2:58PM The morality of what the orcs did is not really defensible. Yeah, they were manipulated and used. But they still did the deeds. Many orcs themselves feel guilty about those events (see Saurfang's discussion with Garrosh in Borean Tundra) and acknowledge the fact that even though they were used, they are still wholly responsible.
It's really no different from when the Night Elves were manipulated by demons into destroying Azeroth.
Sep 29th 2010 2:51PM Draenor's destruction was COMPLETELY the reason the orcs invaded - to THEM. In the orcs' minds, they were leaving Azeroth because they had to. If Draenor was still lush and green? Sargeras & Co. would probably have found another reason to convince the orcs to invade, sure. But destroying the planet ensured that the orcs couldn't possibly argue with the prospect of surviving on a fertile, foreign world.
Using the orcs to attack the humans may have been the Burning Legions' endgame ambitions, but the orcs themselves didn't even KNOW about Azeroth until their world was already beyond saving.
Sep 29th 2010 2:16PM There's no disputing that Doomhammer, and the orcs, instigated and caused the First War. In the sense of Good and Evil, they definitely fall more the "evil" side. I think it's important to remember though that they were not invading Azeroth out of greed or because they just wanted to kill things - they were desperately trying to find a new home because Draenor was dying.
Some of the orcs likely saw the humans as mere vermin to be trampled, but Doomhammer was more cunning, and I think he likely viewed their situation more as "it's either us or them". I'm not saying the Horde's motivation wasn't about conquest and slaughter, just that it was also about simple survival.
