Jan 7th 2011 8:58AM I only finished up that part of the chain last week, and most people I know IRL haven't finished it at all. So it's a valid complaint.
however, most of these websites are run by and read by people who play a lot more, so we gotta take it with the territory.
But it think, for long chains that are the whole point of the zone, writing about it under a spoiler warning would be nice. the Know Your Lore articles always do that before sections that would reveal things you find out after completing a quest chain, and so I skip those if I a haven't done it.
Jan 7th 2011 8:46AM I think they alluded to the fetch mechanic, but the fetch description eluded them.
Jan 5th 2011 1:49PM I think it might be more something like, when you vote kick someone, you pick a reason why from a dropdown, then the person can see the reasons chosen.
But that will not stop abuse, but they are not talking about stopping abuse in the blue quotes above, but legitimate kicks.
Trying to determine it automatically would be incredibly difficult, though I suppose if they had people chose a reason from a dropdown, and run some Bayesian algorithms on the instance run data along with the reasons the players chose then after several thousand runs of the instance the algorithm might have a good chance of predicting what would happen (if it also knew what was said over voice chat).
But if they could do that, they would be using the technology to tune everything.
Jan 5th 2011 11:36AM he goes the same way pro cyclists and runners go ...
Jan 5th 2011 11:24AM When is the official vote for a new acronym for non heroic VC? (since there is no VanCleef in it)
Jan 5th 2011 9:05AM you have a Doctor Who guild? Does i have a Doctor name?
(not Whovians I hope, that sounds rather .. Seussish, though he was a doctor too so I guess it would work out :) )
Jan 5th 2011 9:00AM My other joke name is my goblin shaman healer Greenlight, which my video and theater friends appreciate.
Jan 5th 2011 8:56AM I go looking for sites with names in other languages.
My Tauren are all given American Indian names, including all the pets of my tauren hunter. There are plenty of great names for pets due to the place nature and animals had in their religions.
My Worgen all are named Faolan, Faol, Faolaine, etc, all Gaelic for wolf or "little wolf". Usually that one's taken. My Nelfs also tend to have Gaelic names.
My Forsaken and Death Knights are all named after Tolkien names for evil/dark/bad things, which i get out of the back of the Silmarilion.
And of course my gnome Yunkndatwunk who was a joke name for our guild Z E R G started by Zena, but I kept her.
