Jul 20th 2009 6:32PM Obviously inns and main cities are instant, whats the trigger between getting logging out in 20 seconds with an 'exit now' button vs no 'exit now'?

The Queue: I can't help it if it's true {WoW}

Jun 2nd 2009 9:49PM Fishing I'm unsure of, I guess it's generated on casting.

When it comes to ore or herbs however, a rough explanation I read over on Gatherer's site some time back was that there are a set number of 'groups' of nodes in the zone. IE there will be, say, one ore in 'set 1' and that will be found either here, there, there or waiting to respawn. This one will also have the chance to be the main ore type or one of the rarer ores (gold, silver, khorium, etc) on spawn, and as above, its contents are set on spawn.
The punchline is, if you're hunting Mithril in Badlands, don't avoid the Iron as it increases the speed of the other respawning.

Though, correct me if I'm wrong.

Addon Spotlight: Daily Quest Viewer {WoW}

Apr 18th 2009 12:30AM Yes, +1 for Dailies Quest Tracker

Not only does it keep track of the dailies but also lists which ones you can do, have done for the day, and tracks your alts. Also handles BC dailies, unlike DQV.

Just wish it would get some big attention like this too so there would be people on the realm checking it regularly so the info flew around. Great idea, sharing dailies, but if v. few have the mod it doesn't do much.

Five tips for inventory management {WoW}

Apr 10th 2009 6:07PM Packrats unite!

Get yourself a guild bank for the collectables, buy a few tabs, it's a must for any bank alt anyway IMHO. Now connect your bank alt and levelling alt this way.

As for space WHILE out levelling, yeah, grab cheap 16-slot bags for a few gold each, should provide plenty of space between vendors.

Totem Talk: Hex and Lava Burst {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2009 5:23AM I don't see it mentioned so I'd also highly recommend picking up Glyph of Flame Shock ( as soon as you learn Lava Burst, which stops LB consuming your shock.

Carbonite going free, continuing development {WoW}

Mar 30th 2009 4:35PM Sure Carbonite had a partial version and paid, but there's more to the timing of Blizz' new TOS than that:

To keep you updated, the paid version 'expires' and, with a nice quick popup on login, saying 'go grab the new version from the site before [date]'. Easy fix, keeps the pirates at bay (pun not intended but hilarious).

Somehow this expiry system slipped into the free version (a bug), and yet as the date drew closer no fix was made, and the free partial version expired, losing its questlog functioning. Slipping back a version of the mod fixed it, outside the 'a newer version is available' message on login.

No fix, but promised a 'new version soon'. New version being the full version with 'ad support'. Not a single line on login like QuestHelper, but a battlemap sized solid-colour 'please donate' (or occassionally 'would you like to have your ad here? email today') rectangle that appeared at random on your screen - obscuring your unitframe, party frame, target frame, map, mid-screen, castbar, whereever it felt - it seemed to me that it was usually the last place any action occured, which appeared raid-wipingly malicious for a rectangle.

My assumption is Blizzards policy was pushed to stop this direction from spreading, moreso than the partial vs paid divide.

Preparing for Wrath Day 4: Addons for leveling {WoW}

Nov 9th 2008 11:25PM 2 others I'd pick for levelling (have a look on wowace or curse):

TrainerFu - if you're going to be leveling (or leveling professions), this is essential by my count. Visit a trainer once to add them to the list, and it'll let you know when it's time to go visit x trainer to learn what and for how much. Also hear it doesn't require Fubar, and will instead sit neatly on the map, but never tested that theory.

Bayi's Extended Questlog - Like DoubleWide (the bigger quest log seen in the LightHeaded shot) but with more options, such as tracking more than 5 quests, tracking quests with no requirements, sounds on complete, hoverover info, lets you see party progress on hoverover if they've got it too.
