Breakfast Topic: The starting zones you most love or hate {WoW}

Nov 28th 2010 10:49AM Least Favorite: Elwynn Forest... Vanilla, it was full of long runs back and forth and back and forth, and even in Cataclysm, it's barely changed (except for the first 5 levels, really). Plus, Humans are, well... Humans.

Favorite: Goblins have the best now. Before that... anything's that not Elwynn was probably tied.

Nov 21st 2010 3:15PM There are a lot of zones I didn't do in beta. I levelled a Dwarf Mage to 60, which took me on a track north of Dun Morogh (Wetlands, Arathi, Hinterlands, WPL, etc), and I never even set foot on Kalimdor. But then I also rolled a whole bunch of new characters and saw most of the starting zones. The one zone that I was really unimpressed* with by was... Elwynn Forest. Yes, the first 5 levels are pretty much different (and faster/easier/prettier), but once you get to town, it's almost 90% *exactly* the same. There are minor changes to the zone, but the quests in particular are almost all the same with just little changes. Most other starting zones have a *lot* more changes than Elwynn... and Elwynn is one of the most played out zones in the game that really could have used the changes the most. Boo hiss.

* Draenei/Blood Elves zones don't count because I don't think they got *any* changes.

Scarlet Blouse Gentleman receives NPC for fact checking efforts {WoW}

Oct 31st 2010 10:52PM Something I've not seen addressed about this story... is that in a way, this kid was grandstanding and making public what he as a Beta player could have just done quietly using the Bug Submission tool in Beta the way Beta players are supposed to do. I've also found bugs in the Beta, but I didn't go to Blizz Con and make a point of publicly pointing out the mistakes. I just submitted them via the in-game tool, and went about my day. This kid could have submitted the Falstad goof the same way, but rather than following the Beta testing protocol, he made a big show of himself. I'm not sure Blizzard should reward him for that, as it sets a bad precedent for future Beta testers.

Oct 14th 2010 5:34PM Many of the quest rewards are the same, but they are retooled for Cataclysm. There are also a lot of new quests (for some dungeons), and they either reward exp/gold or new items. The two Stratholmes, in particular, have a TON of new quests.

Oct 14th 2010 5:31PM In Cataclysm, do the BC/Wrath 5 man dungeons have quest givers inside like the Vanilla dungeons do ?

WoW Moviewatch: Warcraft Mountain Dew Spec Commercial {WoW}

Sep 10th 2009 12:23PM Whoops... I meant "girls TURNING into dude alts," of course...

WoW Moviewatch: Warcraft Mountain Dew Spec Commercial {WoW}

Sep 10th 2009 12:17PM That is... way, way better than the "girls tooking into dude alts" commercial that they went with. This is a concept that anybody, including say, my non-gamer mom, can understand without them eventually scratching their heads at the concept that the commercial eventually leads them to conceptualizing in their heads. This one MAKES SENSE and actually makes the person think "hey, I think I'll go drink a mountain dew", which I think is... sort of the point of a Mountain Dew commercial ?

Yay to this person, boo to the lame people behind the actual commercial.
