BlizzCon 2009 Insider Trader: Cataclysmic professions {WoW}

Aug 23rd 2009 11:51PM "Making five green-quality boots might net you one skill point, while making one blue-quality boot might net you five skill points."

The way I heard this, you're missing the word "each" after boots. In other words, to get five points, you could either craft 5 greens, or 1 blue.

Free Lord of the Rings Online for former subscribers until August 24th {Massively}

Aug 20th 2009 9:46AM @origosis: Age of Conan has the same sort of map feature for quests. It will show either an X (for precise quest locations) or an orange shade over areas where the currently highlighted quest is located (and the X or area will be grey for non-highlighted quests). I just thought I'd mention that LOTRO isn't the only MMO to have that feature built in.

Jim Lee and Marv Wolfman speak on DC Universe Online experiences {Massively}

Aug 10th 2009 8:43PM I think it's rather funny that in trying to sell how much Jim Lee knows about the DC Universe, this article sells up all the work he did on Punisher: War Journal and Alpha Flight... both of which are Marvel Comics.

Having said that, Jim Lee has in fact done stuff for DC Comics, most notably All Star Batman and Robin (written by Frank Miller). And it was even popular. So, why the article mentions Marvel comics instead... weird !

38 Studios CEO Brett Close on the Big Huge Games acquisition and the Copernicus IP {Massively}

Jun 28th 2009 2:08PM I am still optimistic about both the Copernicus MMO and the Big Huge RPG (AKA Ascendant), but I think this interview is a good example of "if you don't have anything you can say, then don't say anything." Interviews should only be granted when the person actually has something to announce or disclose. Close didn't have anything he could actually say, so he spent hundreds of words just flapping his jaw. Not a good PR tactic.

The Daily Grind: Why do people love to play the good guys? {Massively}

Jun 25th 2009 8:33AM In the case of WoW, I think this has more to do with people wanting to play "pretty" races, and until Blood Elves, the Horde was lacking in that department.

The Daily Grind: Games that should be MMOs? {Massively}

Jun 12th 2009 8:40AM Oblivion was your first exposure to role-playing games ? Huh ?

Breakfast Topic: What non-combat pets do you want implemented? {WoW}

May 22nd 2009 8:32AM I'm not a dog person, but even I acknowledge that they've got to start adding dog pets... it's sort of bizarre they've gotten this far without doing it.

Or are they just taking the stance that in Azeroth, dogs don't exist ?

Other pets that would be cool to add would be fish, squid, octopus, etc... but you'd only be able to bring them out in water !

First official confirmation that new Blizzard MMO is original IP {Massively}

May 13th 2009 5:16AM Good to see Massively reads its own site. :)

Here's the real first official confirmation we got that the new MMO was a new IP, back in October, 2008:

Massively interviews Wild Bill Stealey on his military MMO project {Massively}

Mar 12th 2009 1:05PM References to Sgt. Rock and Lex Luthor... he's obviously a DC Comics fan !

Free Realms to cost five bucks a month, membership details revealed {Massively}

Mar 12th 2009 12:56PM I should amend that a bit... it came off as being more of a blanket statement than I meant. First off, there are combat-related jobs that you don't have to pay for, and there are other reasons to pay than just those five jobs.

But... I still stand by my estimation that it seems that the combat part of the game seems to be the main focus of the paid game. I don't see any of the non-combat jobs (and there are a LOT of them) needing a paid subscription. It's also especially curious that the "healer class" requires a paid subscription, yes ?
