Forum post of the day: Pushback on Pushback {WoW}

Aug 6th 2008 4:20AM As a warrior I'm all for it......just so long as our armour provides mitigation against spells. Sorry kids, can't have your cake and eat it too

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: When warriors work together {WoW}

Jul 31st 2008 8:48PM Great post. We have 4 warriors in our guild, 2 tanks, 1 Arms and 1 Fury. I play our guilds Arms warrior. I am there to provide Group Buffs (blood frenzy etc), Mob Debuffs (Imp Demo Shout etc) and provide solid DPS. Reads like a job description.

What isn't in the description is how much fun being Arms is. True, I won't DPS as much as our Fury, but to not suck at Arms requires patience and timing. With the use of a swing timer and plenty of practice, I have increased my dps to levels which have confounded our clothy regiment (around 900). Usual comment which Matt mentioned, Warriors should be tanks and can't dps. Tell that to our Fury warrior. As was mentioned, Hyjal turns into a bloodbath!

Oceanic players get their own forum {WoW}

Jul 9th 2008 3:27AM As a player on Khaz'goroth, there are only a few issues I have
1. The server crashes w/ annoying regularity making raids extremely difficult
2. Regular lag spikes experienced by the entire server achieving pings of 1200+
3. Scheduled down time during peak times AEST
4. Standard ping of most players around 300 - 450. This of course isn’t so much of an issue in pve, but can make pvp difficult

All of these issues are fixable. The problem is I don't think Blizzard takes this part of the world seriously or at least not seriously enough to warrant attention. Perhaps opening a Blizzard office in Aus/NZ to properly service the Oceanic region?

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: On my treads {WoW}

Jul 5th 2008 4:11AM With respect to DPS warriors, I play an Arms warrior (Blood Frenzy/MS) in my guild, moving formally away from the Duel Wield Fury spec. I love the methodical, almost lumber jack approach of being a 2Hndr Arms build. The mighty tree felling blows of my axe, chopping away at bosses and maintain good dps. Lovely stuff.

While I agree that DPS is a less stressful way to play, I contend that is only becomes less stressful the more skilled you become. DPS Warriors should never be dismissed as sub standard compared to other classes, remembering that warriors scale incredibly well with gear. In fact we have a fury warrior in our guild that regularly out performs rogues. Even as an Arms warrior, I find myself usually around the 6 -7 mark on 25 man raids. Contrary to popular belief, this class DPS or not requires skill.

Like all warriors that have been in the game for a while, at one time or another we've assumed a tanking role to either fill a need at the time or out of curiosity.

I've dabbled in prot, most certainly but I am far more skilled as Arms. I find that tanking requires a certain play style which I have never acquired. Indeed all of the typical warrior builds require a certain play style. The true masters of our class can do all 3 at a moment’s notice when required.

Prot requires patience, timing and a cool head. I have nothing but respect for those of us who enjoy the build and are good at it

Some people automatically think that because your a warrior, you can tank without having any real understanding of what is required to be a successful meat shield. What makes matters worse is said people usually fly straight out of the gate, dps'ing like there's no tomorrow and blame the tank because he cant hold aggro. The end result of course is the barrage of insulting pst's or just plain outright hostility. Thick skin indeed.

The overall point I’m trying to make is this, We play this class because we enjoy it, we continue to play this class because we are good at it and we will continue to play the way we want to play. Don't like it? Roll a tank or stfu

Kudos to all of you who enjoy tanking.

EA CEO: Warhammer won't rival WoW {WoW}

Jun 19th 2008 8:42PM Mythic arn't trying to beat WoW at their own game rather give gamers a different focus. More PvP centric with a central focus of the World at War should and will excite any PvPer to give it a crack

I don't think any MMORPG will ever see the number of subscriptions of WoW. In fact give it a year and WoW won't see the numbers it has now, too many options for the subscriber. That being said I don't believe that WoW will lose players in droves, far from it, rather I think it's going to level off after Lich King. AoC should have ironed out most of it's bugs, same same with WAR and you'll have 3 very successful Fantasy based RPG's dominating the market. WoW of coarse will have the lion's share of the pie.

It's a very good time to be a gamer.

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: To Gear A Fury {WoW}

May 9th 2008 12:31PM 9% hit cap if you Single Hand / 2Hnd. Dual Wield builds need to remember the 19% hit rating penalty incurred. Ive found that I cant stack enough HR, so far its around 220 w/ Romulous Poison Vial which equates to around 17% increase chance to hit.

The trick is now is to balance CR, AP and HP to find the most effective balance which can be a little tricky depending on raid make-up.
