Breakfast Topic: Carebear or Ruthless Ganker? {WoW}

Oct 23rd 2006 8:09AM What's "carebear" about frowning on corpse camping and ganking? World PvP (for me) is more about a fair fight, unless somebody's done something to annoy me. I don't see much point in killing lowbies, because it's a waste of time for both of us. Sure, "if it's red it's dead" is a valid way to play the game - after all, we are at war, I suppose - but I have plenty of other things I need to work on ;)

Breakfast Topic: New BC Spells and Talents {WoW}

Oct 10th 2006 9:30AM This blog post modded -1 flamebait ;)

@Greg - actually devs have stated that flying form will be just as fast as normal flying mounts.

Hunter non-talent changes are interesting at best. It'll be nice to see them have an overall positive effect, but we'll see. I think those will affect everything about the class much more than just the new talents/spells.

Rogues and Warriors got some nice stuff as far as spell defense (or just defense in general as regards the rogue). Speaking of, I'm surprised nobody's whined about MT not being trainable.

I think if the bubble-dispel is as bad as the pallys make it out to be, it will be nerfed. The devs aren't mentally challenged, they're not going to kill the class. That's what beta testing is for.

Can't say I looked too hard at mages or priests, but I tend to agree that the majority of the changes have been positive.

South Park World of Warcraft clip! [UPDATE] {WoW}

Oct 4th 2006 8:21AM It looked to me like they could have been in the Cathedral in SW, Axium. Of course it's all human architecture so it's kind of hard to tell ;)

Breakfast Topic: Best way to /gquit {WoW}

Sep 15th 2006 8:21AM I know people who have used the "We're not playing WoW anymore" (..."on this server") tactic, but I'm not that big a fan of subterfuge. If you have good reason to leave, then the people you should worry about upsetting should understand (and who knows, may come with you). If they're going to be upset at you for not staying in a disadvantageous situation then they're not worth the trouble ;)

Suffering Through Child's Play in WoW {WoW}

Sep 8th 2006 9:12AM As another CM (or maybe it was Neth) posted the last time an 18+ realm was requested; not only is there literally *no way* to determine someone's real age over the internet (which is interesting to me, because all the people complaining about young kids claim to be able to do so just by reading their chatlog), but age isn't even strongly correlated with maturity anymore.
I'm just glad they give me an ignore list... :)

Breakfast Topic: Where does your money go? {WoW}

Sep 8th 2006 9:08AM Ammo, pet food, crafting supplies. I've got about 10 gold at level 52 on my current main, while my girlfriend (who's been playing her warrior less than I've been playing my hunter, and doesn't craft) is approaching 100 gold. /sigh

Still no hunter BC talent/skill love {WoW}

Sep 6th 2006 4:13PM Ah, ok, I misread. Yeah, some kind of empathy skills would be good; Spirit Bond is kind of weak for being the only passive hunter/pet interaction.

I'm also kind of in the (proven, as opposed to theoretical) school of thought that pets are extremely useful in raids when managed properly. You get kicked out of a raid for pulling it out, sure, but that's due in large part to people who didn't realize that their pet would follow them when they jumped, or that aggressive stance was a bad instance stance, or that growl would steal aggro from the MT... etc. Blizz has kind of hinted at that train of thought, too, so I'd put money on them revamping the pet training system to be a little more dynamic.

Still no hunter BC talent/skill love {WoW}

Sep 6th 2006 3:51PM That depends on how you define "pets," Mike :-P

No, Blizz probably won't do that. Or rather, let me say that it would be ignorant of them to do so - almost all of the flak they're catching from Hunters now regarding pets is that the pet advancement system isn't as nice as it should be, so the burden of making pets better gets schlepped off to the Hunter (gear, talents, etc.). If they made Hunters train in abilities that were only used for pets, it a) wouldn't serve any useful purpose, and b) it wouldn't earn them any favors in the community. It's a lose/lose.

Also, they have the ability to summon a super-powered version of their pet; all it takes is 31 points in the BM tree :-P

Still no hunter BC talent/skill love {WoW}

Sep 6th 2006 2:02PM There has, actually, been something said for hunters - and even better
than unsubstantiated (and likely false... as someone noted earlier, the champion stuff was made up) rumors, it was said by a
CM.

They've
got a big focus on hunter pets, it seems.

Burning Crusade Profession Rumors {WoW}

Sep 5th 2006 10:24PM @Lori - I'd dig up a forum post but I'm on my way to bed, and it's been a good month or so since I've seen a blue response. But this was recently asked and answered specifically for enchanting - they don't view the lack of easy marketability as an issue. "Working as intended," while a bit stereotypical, is the practical essence of what they said.

I'm not saying it's the right way to do things - I personally think they need to open it up a bit, if for nothing other than clearing up all those ridiculously hard-to-read messages that flood Trade - just noting that they don't seem to have that in mind.
