It's an instant hit with a shield that causes 200% damage based on your block value and it "causes a high amount of threat".

Sounds like they're trying to make prot pallys more like prot warriors.

They moved Divine Strength to the Prot tree so ret pallies could pick it up without wasting 5 points in the holy tree to get it, while throwing 5 more points away in the prot tree for either a shield skill (they don't wear shields obviously) or an extra little bit of armor (they don't use Devotion Aura either)...just so they can pick up 3% chance to hit and BoK.

That was a smart move on Blizz's part...make the trees more open to different play styles.

-Avenging Wrath no longer causes Forebearance, damage increase reduced to 20%,

now increases healing done by 20%.
=Bubble and Wings? Yes please, that's 12 seconds of not having my wings purged

or dispelled or eaten by a felpuppy.

-Conviction (Retribution) now increases critical chance with all spells and

melee attacks.
=Not only will Shockadins now have 5% more spell crit, but by filling up this

spell we're also opening ourselves to the Retribution talent "Vengeance".

-Divine Intellect (Holy) moved to tier 2, increases total Intellect by

3/6/9/12/15%.
=Another 5% Intellect is good. That's a bit more mana, crit, and spell damage.

-Hammer of Wrath is now considered a Retribution spell, moved from Holy, mana

cost reduced, missile speed increased, now usable on targets below 35% health.
=Probably won't hit for as much as itused to but we can use it at 35% instead of

20%...more burst is good.

-Holy Shock (Holy) range changed to 20/40 yards when used on enemies/friends

respectively, cooldown reduced to 6 seconds.
=Can finally make a useful macro hotkey for spamming JoR (8 seconds with

talents) + Holy Shock (down from 15 seconds).

-Improved Seal of the Crusader (Retribution) renamed Heart of the Crusader and

the effects now apply to all Judgement spells.
=I can judge the enemy with Wisdom and still have 3% crit on them? Sweet!

-Repentance (Retribution) mana cost changed to 9% of base, duration increased to

1 minute (10 second PvP duration), now usable against Demons, Dragonkin, Giants,

Humanoids and Undead.
=With 10 more talent points at our disposal, this move will be grabbed, no doubt

about it, and it looks like it'll be taking that 1 odd man number that Sanctity

Aura used to possess in the (40/0/21) build.


Other:
-Holy Wrath is now instant cast, causes a 3 second stun, cooldown reduced to 30

seconds, radius reduced to 10 yards.
=If Holy Wrath stays being spell based, this is gonna be very useful for

leveling in Northrend. Undead based massive AoE with stun...I like.

-Illumination (Holy) moved to tier 3.
=I wonder how that'll affect Divine Favor and Holy Shock, if at all?

-Improved Concentration Aura moved from the Protection tree to tier 4 in the

Holy tree.
=May be worth picking this talent up since we're gonna need a new aura.

-Improved Sanctity Aura (Retribution) renamed Sanctified Retribution, now causes

all units affected by Retribution Aura to cause 2% more damage.
=May be worth picking this up if you'd rather use Retribution Aura over

Concentration Aura.

-Retribution Aura damage increased and now gains damage based on Holy spell

power.
=See above notes.

-Sanctified Light (Holy) now also increases the critical chance of Holy Shock.
=Not sure if that affects the healing and damage of Holy Shock, but 6% more crit

could put some people at a 50% crit chance for the spell.

Nerf:
Sanctity Aura (Retribution) removed.
=So far, my only QQ. :(

Shockadin sounds great, but at the end of the day, there's something wrong if a completely cross-tree spec is infinitely better than a full talent tree. Another attack spell would be nice, preferably trainable rather than talented - when soloing as holy, it gets boring waiting 9 seconds for anything that's not auto-attack."

I wouldn't say it's better at one thing as any of the other three choice specs. Healing capability comes close, but I don't pick up the Improved Blessing of Wisdom nor the 6% crit for Holy Light in the the Holy tree. Tanking doesn't even come close, but in the thick of battle and say your tank's taunt is still on cooldown, you can taunt a mob or two your way and hold them until the tank regains control. And as I said before, DPS is much lower than a ret pally (who already doesn't have good damage).

But for me, it's how I enjoy playing. I rolled a paladin to "do it all". The idea of a healer in plate gear sounded great when I made it. Then I find out there is alot more to the mechanics of the game.

WWI '08 Panel: Death Knight {WoW}

Jun 29th 2008 2:09AM Natalie how did you skip the Plaguelands? I started and quit WoW around level 30, before I played Warcraft 3...but after playing WC3 I eventually came back to WoW.

With that being said, the whole reason I never gave up leveling my paladin even though it was a pain in the rear, was just to see the Plaguelands. After seeing places like Strahnbrad, Andorhal, and the infamous Stratholme in WC3, I had to see for myself how much they'd changed. Like one of the posters above me said, there are some great quest stories up there if you take the time to do them, and it's got the most interesting scenery of any zones in the game. I mean, where else are you going to see giant fungal mushrooms, or a huge rare Nerubian Overseer that will still kill most 70 players today...then there's the Crimson Courier that will plow down and knock back and kill most 70's as well. There's also an enormous bat and grub monster that used to be elites and were hard as hell to kill, you can try soloing Blightcaller if you've got an Alliance 70 (good luck with that), solo the battle of Darrowshire (a raid quest), storm Tyr's Hand and see all the neato Scarlet Crusade people. Of course if you're not into all that, you can just go and check out Naxxramas floating above the ground, or go hang out with Tirion before he moves to Dalaran.

I love Plaguelands. I think maybe I'll camp the DK starting zone and kill the newbies as they come up. >=)

Jun 29th 2008 1:43AM Everyone's so angry and yet...they keep playing. I've been playing just over a year now, and I've seen so many changes to pallies since that time, especially the whole thing in patch 2.3. Being a pally myself, I do feel some of the pain, but I swear, ret has to be the choice spec for all pansies. You bitch and moan and whine and complain and nothing is ever good enough. You're a HYBRID, get over it...you'll never be the best at any one thing, learn to shift roles to fit different situations.

What's so great about being retribution anyway? Your DPS sucks and unless you're Horde, it's very uncontrollable since SoComm is a proc, your survivability is atrocious since the only "oh shit" skill you have is bubble, then when it wears off you're still gonna mauled because you've only got 8k armor...and did I mention that your healing ability is just a big retarded waste of mana since they took out all spell damage and healing on retri gear?

I'll continue to be a Shockadin and loving it. My DPS might not be as high, but I live longer, I can emergency off-tank with my shield, my heals are vastly superior when needed, and I still bring Sanc Aura for the tanking pally and Improved SoC for the raid.

Splash Screen changes: Worldwide Invitational edition {WoW}

Jun 28th 2008 4:34AM Teeth? There's nothing there but cold vapors like around the rest of the image. Your nostrils could just as easily be cheek bones, there's not enough to tell all that yet.

I will say that it doesn't look like any Lich King we've seen yet, it definitely does look more demonic...but I don't see the devil himself with cold vapor streams coming off his eyes.

The ridges on the head do remind me of the Protoss image from the Starcraft box though.
