Patch 4.0.6 PTR: Positive changes for warlocks {WoW}

Jan 12th 2011 9:35AM @ Ragen

The idea of bypassing Tapping less crossed my mind at first when seeing the Fel Armor change, too, but then I realized it was also removing a choice from the player (choices being something I thought this expansion wanted to encourage) and removing a bit of overall survivability.

A response to upcoming Tol Barad changes, page 2 {WoW}

Jan 11th 2011 11:59AM "The problem with his response, however, is that it doesn't tell us more than the problem is on people's minds and that solutions are coming soon. I'm all for that, but I'm still looking for specifics."

Isn't it obvious that they either don't have specifics yet or don't want to give too much, have it fail, and have players more upset? The post's whole purpose is to let people know that, yes, they're aware of the issues and, yes, they WILL do something about it.

You may think that type of message worthless, but when you have thousands of players beating on your door wanting to hear ANYTHING, something like this is better than nothing (which is the only other option when they have nothing else to offer).

Rated battlegrounds FAQ {WoW}

Bah.

Rated battlegrounds FAQ {WoW}

Dec 2nd 2010 10:32AM I wouldn't think so, but if you can get into premades easily enough, there's little reason to not stick with rated BGs.

I see myself BG participation (even further than usual) due to this. Premade creation for rated BGs will become just finicky as Trade channel raids, thus ensuring I don't get into one and stay behind the PvP gearcurve. This time, though, it will be worse due to what will be a heavy influx of Arena-level PvP gear.

People may think the joke's on the Trade-made premades for rated BGs because they won't have the cohesion of a regular group, but if that turns out true, then we have a whole other problem: Rated BGs will be dominated by PvP-centered guilds and groups, i.e. the same people who excel in Arena.

People claim it's impossible to rate individual contribution to a team's win in BGs, but I'm not buying it, especially after reading many great examples. Really, now, don't other non-MMO games online get around this issue easily? I'm not well-versed in online play these days, but I'm under the impression many games today rate individuals just fine while causing little to no detriment to the teamwork. And even if they don't, the rigid nature of the objectives in BGs should lend themselves very well to some individually evaluative metric without encouraging teamwork-destroying exploits.

I'm most saddened by how the current plan for rated BGs will only encourage even more exclusion. This system will work out great for those with many (many) friends or great guilds. But for those of us looking to prove ourselves in passing, those of us already excluded from Trade channel weekly raids (which were unarguably meant for passing or "casual" use) . . .forget about it.

I'm saddened that seemingly every effort to promote accessibility only encourages exclusion.

Cataclysm: Guild cap revised, now 1,000 members {WoW}

Oct 9th 2010 2:09AM Grah. . .I meant "A specific portion of the playerbase, thought to only represent around 1% of the total playerbase," managed to not only be heard by heard but managed to force change."

Cataclysm: Guild cap revised, now 1,000 members {WoW}

Oct 9th 2010 2:06AM So let me get this straight: What a specific portion of the playerbase thought to only represent around 1% of the total playerbase managed to not only be heard but have action taken for them?

Wow. . .just wow.

Breakfast Topic: Tank anxiety {WoW}

Aug 3rd 2010 10:49AM Tanking anxiety is one of the reasons I chose to stop playing until Cataclysm.

My schedule simply doesn't work with the guilds in my realm, and the Dungeon Finder has created an environment hostile to learning new roles/classes. I'd gotten bored with my warlock main and picked back up with my prot pally with the intent of just hanging out in randoms.

However all of my research could not offset my uneasiness with taking the lead in a group of strangers, performing a task I had only done before with people I knew.

ESRB unintentionally exposes email addresses of people who filed complaints over Blizzard's Real ID system [Updated] {WoW}

Jul 13th 2010 11:55AM Because we all know if an exposed real name to the world is dangerous, then an exposed email address to people who share the same concern in privacy is super-duper dangerous.

. . .Wait, what?

Cataclysm: Alchemy mount hinted at on EU forums {WoW}

Breakfast Topic: Where's the epic {WoW}

Apr 28th 2010 2:35PM The Escapist posted an article this week which relates to this: You can never "unplay" a game. There's NOTHING Blizzard could do, not even roll back the servers and clients to 1.0, which will EVER recreate that feeling you had downing Rag for the first time.
