The healer shortage and how to fix it {WoW}

Dec 18th 2008 2:29PM Tanking clearly got the Dev spotlight on it for Wrath. As they've said, they're looking at a healing overhaul for several patches down the line (read: the next expansion).

I liked the feeling of healing - having a group of people utterly dependent on my dexterity and reflexes - it's very thrilling to know in most five-mans or even ten-mans that whether you down a boss or not resides solely at your (the healer's) feet. DPS could always slack, and now Tanks can too - but healers stand alone in making every spell cast count, with perfect timing.

The flip side is that in practice, looking at a bunch of health bars is visually pretty boring. Having DPS'd and Tanked through many instances, I can say it's just more fun to see all the effects going off and all the NPC's using their abilities.

So, for me, healing is more rewarding - but DPS'ing or Tanking is just more fun. I doubt I'm alone in that - and until Blizz comes up with the magic tools that marry those two experiences together in healing... the shortage will continue.

Dec 15th 2008 9:15PM Warcraft is a video game that people pay REAL money and spend REAL time to enjoy. How hard is it to understand that the hours I put into the game, grinding, questing, running dungeons is equating into gold and/or items?

Warcraft is also a hobby. A pleasurable but time-consuming hobby. And that time is real money to me. Anyone who rips me off in-game is taking real dollars from me.

Nov 17th 2008 4:31PM There's always going to be immature and impatient players. But on my server, they are few - and generally find themselves ostracized by the majority of their fellow players. Its hard to find people to team up with for group quests when you've gained a reputation as a kill-stealer and griefer, amirite?.

Jun 2nd 2008 1:39PM As for the shoulders, you didn't mention Vestia's Pauldrons of Inner Grace.

I've been forced to keep these Pink Shoulders (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28250) for quite a long time now - 25 Curator smackdowns and not once have those damn epic shoulders dropped - much to my dismay. Other than how absolutely AWFUL they look, they're awesomely statted and have dropped about 5 times in Mech runs I've been on (normal and heroic).
