Oracles or the Frenzyheart, which did you choose? {WoW}

Jan 8th 2009 2:11PM I was prepared to go with the Frenzyheart, even though I read the first article that compared the two of them and about how cruel the Frenzyheart were. Unfortunately, playing a Paladin on an RP server, I just couldn't justify going along with a faction that asked me to go find an injured member of the opposing faction, revive them, and then kill them. I mean, it's not like the Oracles are Traitorous Alliance scum or anything.

Server issues abounds this evening {WoW}

Jan 7th 2009 11:30AM One of the problems I've noticed about being on a low-pop PvE realm (RP - Farstriders US), is that the lack of healers that everyone feels on all servers seems to be very pronounced when you have less players over all. It can be nigh impossible to get even a 5 man PuG together on any given day, including weekends, let alone a 10 man or 25 man for Naxx. Now, this isn't much of a problem if you have a decent guild to back you up, but our guild only has 3 level 80s right now and everyone else is 50 or below (aside from our DK alts), so we're forced to PuG if we want to run anything.

Battleground queues can be a real hassle as well, if you like running BGs. There have been some nights when the official average wait time for the last group was 2 minutes, but I've been in queue for over an hour, for AB or EotS.

Aside from that, there's the AH that you mentioned, but that can cut both ways. Sure the realm economy is screwed up, but who doesn't like being able to sell a 20 stack of Wool Cloth for 25g or more?

In the end, if I had a choice of servers to pick without having to pay for a transfer, I really don't know if I would pick a low-medium pop server again. I think I'd rather put up with the crowding and be able to group once in a while than be able to level without seeing anyone else in a zone but get to 80 and be stuck with nothing to do.

Breakfast topic: Forgive and forget? {WoW}

Dec 19th 2008 10:29AM I haven't seen a whole lot of problems with Evade, but I have noticed a lot of being stuck "in combat" when I've killed my target(s) and am 100 yards or more from my last battle, even if there are no mobs around whatsoever. Makes it a giant pain trying to remount in Icecrown or Storm Peaks.

You know you play too much WoW if... {WoW}

Dec 16th 2008 10:58AM Yeah, I knew I'd been playing too much WoW when I was stuck behind a bad driver (driving a manual transmission light truck and having a hard time pulling away from a traffic light) and my first thought was ZOMG!! L2Drive n00b.

Sadly, that was only a few weeks into playing, way back at level 30...

Breakfast Topic: Don't you mean the *healer* shortage? {WoW}

Dec 9th 2008 11:03AM Yeah, I've seen this several times in the last few days as a Prot Paladin. I have 19k+ health but only 5k+ mana, no healing gear, and I'm definitely not specced holy, but every couple days someone asks me to heal an instance. One intrepid individual even asked me to heal Nexus for Keristrasza.

Don't unlearn your blacksmithing weapon specialzation {WoW}

Dec 4th 2008 6:21PM You know, I tried to level my blacksmithing, I really did. But after spending 250g on mats to make 5 Thorium Axes, which were soulbound and sold for 3g, I said to hell with it and went back to gather/gather instead of gather/production.

Breakfast Topic: The tanking shortage {WoW}

Dec 3rd 2008 10:32AM Honestly, my DK will never be specced to tank, regardless of the fact that I can do that with any tree. I've been tanking 5 man content for months on my paladin (playing less than a year, sorry), and need at least one character that doesn't tank.

But that doesn't mean that I won't continue tanking on my pally.

Lore unfolding {WoW}

Dec 2nd 2008 4:10PM So far, I've really enjoyed all of the lore of the quest chains. I've managed to get from 70 to 78 a heck of a lot faster than I was able to get 60 to 68, and the story and reasoning behind the quests has been great.

That being said, I'm really getting sick of "take control of X mob and use it to kill Y mob" quests.

That sinking sensation {WoW}

Nov 20th 2008 8:21PM See, as someone who does a lot of role-playing, and who just went through the DK starting quests last night, I really appreciated just how evil and twisted the first several quests were. If you can allow yourself to become immersed in the mindset that you are a killing machine and all living people deserve to die, it makes the execution quest and the final battle that much more poignant. Not everybody can do that, and I'm not going to make any judgments about that here, but if you can, it really makes you stop and think, as a character, when those two quests come up.

The Queue: Daily quests and Tastyfish {WoW}

Nov 19th 2008 3:07PM Hmm. Ok, that makes sense, and I definitely don't see myself staying at 73 (or 74, since I dinged that last night) for long. I found that the first level took a while to get, but once you get further into some of the quest chains and can move out of the starting zone of your choice safely, you can really start racking up the XP fast. That, and completing Nothing Boring about Borean and D.E.H.T.A.'s Little P.I.T.A certainly helped. It does look like I'll be putting in the rest of the work on I Toured the Fjord for gold rewards after I hit 80 though, I just wasn't pulling XP as quickly as I would have liked and had to move on to Grizzly Hills and Zul'Drak.

It was just a bit of a shock to hit Honored with Kalu'ak at level 70 or early 71 and be so far away level wise from being able to use anything that I could technically purchase from them.
