The only positive I see resulting form this floormat fiasco would be gas pedals that hinges off the floor board as the new standard in all cars. I had a '98 Civic with a hanging gas pedal - my new Civic now has the type that hinges off the floor. Still no brake override though...
And for those who blame electronics - are drive by wire systems classified as a mechanical device?
