Oct 12th 2010 2:00PM Agreed, I never understand why they low-ball the estimate for these major patches. Its much better to over-estimate and go online early.
Personally, I'd start with a 20 hour estimate.
Oct 12th 2010 8:19AM Are the new class/race combos available? Not talking about Worgen or Goblin, but Dwarf Shammies, Tauren Paladins, etc.
Oct 5th 2010 7:44PM Just to remind everyone, this is what Vanilla was like. (Coming from EQ it was old hat.) Everyone enjoyed it and were better players for the content. We all had to be. The problems I saw in Vanilla were not the dungeon content per se but the length of dungeons, WC, Strat, etc would literally take hours. Also 40 man raid guilds were fairly tough to keep together and progressing. Think of the problems 25 and even 10 man raid guilds have and multiply them by 2.
Folks will adapt, some folks will quit. I think Blizz is gambling a bit, but long term it was a necessary change for the health of the game. Trust me, after several wipes folks are gonna whine, they're gonna nerd rage, they're gonna adapt or quit.
The content hopefully is tuned and while more challenging is probably not as difficult as it seems simply because folks in the beta are attacking it with the LK mind-set.

Most casters have utility spells such as water-breathing, water-walking, etc. Smart players will adapt to this others won't. Also good DK's are definitely going to want to time this and not blindly apply it in order to counter the err, counters.
Aug 26th 2010 9:18AM GC has stated many times they want to add things in to fill the gaps. They cannot do that until gaps exist. The current situation prevents them from making the class 'better' or more 'fun' by adding in these so-called gap fillers. The intention was also to lighten up on the strictness of the rotation.
Many DK's on EJ and the official forums agree this is a good direction to go. It's just been poorly implemented up to this point but its still only beta with several months to go.

The official beta forums are open to the public for read access: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?forumId=27265656&sid=2000
You'll actually see more activity about the beta on the official class role forums.
Consider, the maintainer of the UH thread at EJ has a pretty good blog on the subject: http://considerit1.wordpress.com/
Do not let the negative feel of the posts get you down. Everyone I know says the class is not broken and just needs tweaks. The fact that GC has been quiet wrt DK's indicates to me that they are aware of the issues brought up and they will be addressed and that there is nothing to say. Naha et al have done a great job pointing out inconsistencies.
Also keep in mind it sounds like you came to the class rather late. It has been nerfed into the ground compared to how it was at launch and its still an excellent class. Oh how I miss the original DS.
Another great source of info is the tweet thread: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=26137024331&sid=1&pageNo=1
In that tweet session there are several statements that make it clear changes are coming that we have not seen yet.
Aug 26th 2010 8:21AM I understand this article is about leveling, but I was wondering about pvp, specifically BGs. I know Dark Simulacrum is not available at the moment but I'm thinking Blood/Frost could be a good pvp spec. Have you been able to take advantage of the BG's recently opened?
Probably a good article to do.
Keep in mind I'm only interested in rated BG's, never did arena as I love BG's and in vanilla I ran with a couple pre-mades in pursuit of High Warlord. What a waste of life, I literally heard guys crying over the pressure on vent.

You are wrong about people not complaining, they already are. EQ2X will not increase EQ2 population, if anything it will reduce it. This has some folks on live fairly concerned. Others made it crystal clear they will be trying it and moving off EQ2 Live if its a good fit.
I'm certainly interested in trying it out and starting over and I know many others that will be more then happy to change over. I can't imagine that folks who start on this server moving over to EQ2 Live, why would they? They want the convenience of buying their way to competitiveness.
As long as the population and raid scene is robust it'll be successful.
The thing is, crafting is very popular in EQ2 Live, what the heck value does it have in EQ2X?
Jul 15th 2010 10:10AM Moorit, its fine to shine.
You shouldn't have to spend time, OUTSIDE of the game, doing research to shine.
Trust me even if specs were handed to us, i.e. you chose a spec and the talents are pre-selected for you, you would be able to pick the really bad players from the good.
However, there are varying degrees of quality. Many players are good or good enough to complete instances and have fun with and yet are excluded or belittled because they have a career and can't/don't want to spend hours researching what talents and abilities they should be using.
Some of the mechanics of this game are out of control. MMO's have always been about the social aspects of the game, not the skill. I feel Blizz is doing a good job improving the social aspect of this mmo but still keeping a level of skill. This change is making the game more inclusive and accessible which is a good thing.
Ultimately, the game is a long ways away from being easy.
As I mentioned, 30 freaking abilities on my action bars? That's still requires a lot of knowledge, dexterity and research to take advantage of. IMO its a bit too much.
Jul 15th 2010 8:32AM @Rajinnu and Jennifer.
Precisely, you 'get' it.
