Nov 25th 2009 1:06AM I've weathered some pretty gnarly storms in Seattle, and they will fuck your shit up sometimes. So if that's the cause then I'm not surprised. It can't always be helped, we are talking fairly violent forces of nature at work here.
If it's an issue with the physical location of the servers, on the other hand, then Bliz obviously needs to rectify that.
Nov 23rd 2009 2:52PM I've often felt that my late entry into the game (mid-2006) has hopelessly compromised my WoW experience: simply too much missed content, always too far behind the server curve. It feels like I've spent most of my game time trying desperately to catch up and never quite succeeding.
It definitely had its moments, especially for the first year or so when the world still felt huge and mysterious. It all feels pretty rote now, however, and I'd never intended to give it more than two years anyway.
My time in Azeroth is done. WoW is a hell of a game, but it's also deeply flawed and the most insidious time-suck I've ever encountered. For me, anyway, two and a half years is enough.
Nov 22nd 2009 9:44PM Mr. T annoyed the living shit out of me in the '80s and still does, but I hear he's a good guy so I'm glad he's getting work.
Nov 3rd 2009 5:29PM One gripe: search results drop the suffixes from item names ("of the Bandit," etc). I was very pleased a few months back to find this problem had been fixed, but the post 3.2 updates are dropping them again.
Still an invaluable tool for idiots like me who have, and actually play, numerous alts. It sure beats hand-writing inventories for a dozen characters, I'll tell ya what.
Nov 3rd 2009 9:52AM Normally I'd dismiss something like this as a cheesy cash-grab, but given the huge impact of WoW (and the deeply weird 2-1/2 years I've spent among its denizens) I'd actually like to see what this book is all about.
Nov 2nd 2009 10:14AM Cool idea, but clearly thrown together with a minimum of effort. The holiday deserves better.
Sep 29th 2009 7:10PM Running your MacBook's video to a 24" display is only going to worsen your framerate issues (and I'm not even sure you can use the monitor's native resolution with that setup)
The main problem here is the MB's integrated graphics hardware, which makes it a notoriously poor gaming machine. Your only hope for better performance is to get a machine with a decent video card, I'm afraid.
My mom's early-2009 iMac is nothing special hardware-wise, but it seems to run WoW beautifully with most of the graphics options on full. One can commonly find refurbished examples of these machines selling for $200-$400 off the original list price, so if you have the money you might want to consider getting one.
Sep 25th 2009 2:50PM It sure seems to me that my turtle is generating less threat than he used to, but I may be imagining things.
Sep 23rd 2009 1:20PM Might have been a cute short without the retarded strawman "political satire."
