Jan 21st 2011 12:23PM I'm afraid that you are doing it wrong. There are very few fights where there is substantial damage to party members that is unavoidable. And almost fights where the damage is unavoidable it hits every single person in the party, not just melee. In almost every boss fight the melee need to either away from the boss or rotate around a boss to avoid a damaging ability. I run dungeons with guildies exclusively and we have several melee that never (and I literally mean never) take damage except when the rest of the party is taking damage also. They have studied the fights and know when to run out and when they need to move to the bosses left or right.
Also, don't forget that you have access to Word of Glory in your Ret spec. While it may not be quite as powerful as it is for Holy and Prot, a 3-HoPo WoG still heals for a nice chunk and you probably have more crit as Ret than as Holy. While it is usually a DPS loss, if it would have kept you alive until the healer came back to you then it's a DPS gain.
Personally I heal everyone, but I'm fairly well geared now and can afford the mana more than most healers.

Dec 7th 2010 3:14PM @ wow: "Ok. The simple answer is you want to reforge to make the piece of gear you picked up because it increases your GS have the stats that you should of waiting for a piece of gear to have."
First off, reforging is used to make gear better, not to improve gearscore (assuming that's what you mean by GS). Second, gearscore only tracks the iLevel of an item, it completely ignores the stats of the item. Third, gearscore is irrelevant for everything except for getting a base idea of how undergeared/overgeared a particular player is for content (and it of course is easily tricked, making it even more useless)
"What are those stats? If you believe this wow insider writer, spirit and haste. But really he seems to be wildly mis-informed, granted thats just my opinion. (Hell yes maximum mana not int increases your mana regen!)"
Yes, this is solely your opinion, Chase's article is right in-line with pretty much all of the current theorycrafting and real world experience (the only real discussion is what order the remaining stats, Crit, Mastery, should be ranked at. It is generally accepted that the first 3 priorities are Intellect, then Spirit until regen isn't a problem, then haste until you are at soft cap).
"I'll personally be aiming for a mix of mastery/spirit/crit, and trying to avoid haste until I get a comfortable amount of spirit."
You appear to be missing 3 huge parts of why haste is so vital. First, haste reduces the global cooldown so that you can cast something every second instead of 1.5 seconds, the shorter the GCD, the more heals you can cast. Second, haste reduces the cast time of all spells, but most importantly the long cast spells, Holy Light and Dawn of Light. Those spells are vital to our healing toolkits. Both of those spells are 3 second cast without haste, that's an awful long time for either spell and their purposes.

Oct 30th 2010 4:58PM This change is already on Live, it was just now applied to Beta. Matt made a mistake by assuming that this is something new. Whatever you are healing at right now is the same for Cata. Nothing to see here.

Do not say that Steelseries mouses are bad just because of that piece of junk MMO Mouse. That is one single product out of their lineup and the other mouses are incredible. The Ikari, Xai and Kinzu are all top notch mouses, with the Ikari Laser being my personal favorite. The Ikari Laser is easily the best mouse I have ever used and I have tried every single one of the so called "professional gamer" mouses out there. Although if the Razer Naga works for you, then you probably have smaller hands and would want to try something else. The Ikari and Xai were out before the WoW MMO mouse and were established as being great mouses.
Oct 26th 2010 1:29PM I've played a Dwarf hunter as my main since WoW went retail. But shortly after ICC opened our guild's Holy Paladin took a break, so I converted my rarely used Ret Paladin to a healer (rarely used, as in my 3rd 80 and least liked). Now I raid exclusively with the H Paladin and it's definitely my main.
