Thomas Edison's 1912 electric car restored; hits the streets once again {Autoblog Green}

Oct 3rd 2010 2:39PM "Imagine what we would have now if Edison had been listened to a century ago."

Yes, and imagine if luminiferous aether was how light traveled between the stars. Every single dreamer insists that electric cars are the way of the future all while ignoring the physics screaming at them that they're mad. As long as folks try to force the technology to fit their ideology humanity suffers.

Edison wasn't listened to because the technology wasn't there. It's still not there. And until someone can come up with a fast, safe charger that can mimic an oil pump the coal-to-car dream of electric enthusiasts will be stillborn.

Cataclysm beta removes portals from Dalaran and Shattrath {WoW}

Sep 27th 2010 7:48AM I was wondering when Blizzard would finally make a change I couldn't understand. These portals have long been a convenience for non-mages and allowed them to spend less time traveling and more time playing. I guess Blizz felt I got to play the game too much. *sigh*

The Dungeon Finder already makes the world feel completely empty as you never see groups transiting to dungeons. Blizzard can't use the "world feels too empty" line with a straight face in removing such a game-improving feature as easy city portals.

Officers' Quarters: Reforging loot systems {WoW}

Jun 7th 2010 3:23PM Not sure what stumbling blocks you had Taristo, but SKG works beautifully for our guild. Yes, it has some quirks - they all do - but it's a very fair, equitable system that has served my guild very well. It's kept any loot drama from appearing in my guild, and that alone is worth the price of admission.

I strongly advise SKG (or variants) to anyone wanting a good way of handling loot.
