Jan 6th 2012 1:34PM There is a huge difference between creating something from scratch and shameless copying. Creating original thought and architechture doesn't mean it can't borrow, but it should rape and pillage. That originality is a major reason why Blizz has been so successful, that's why you get the big bucks.
Blizzard has created the most engaging fantasy universe anywhere, imo. Every time they take a culture's mythology and change some letters in the names, it erodes from the universe they created.
Uldum was a catastrophe, I agree. Harrison Jones was ridiculous. I also think that the Vikings...sorry...Kvaldir and Loki....sorry...Loken betrayal of his brother Thor...oh wait...sorry....Thorim was embarassing.
Not going down the "Pandaren are part of lore" path, but Pandas set in an Asian themed locale while practicing "Zen" and I can't help but think this is continuing down a bad path.
The graphics are beautiful, I'm looking forward to playing the expansion immensely. I personally don't like that you can't go 2 minutes in the game with out some blatant reference to stupid pop culture. Blizzard was a model of incorporating tongue in cheek references. They are now the model of excess as well imo.
Jan 6th 2012 11:59AM Can Blizzard please stop shamelessly ripping off history and come up with more original set pieces?
At first, the pop culture "easter eggs" were cute. Then they were everywhere. Now they are beyond played out.
I play this game to escape from the real world and get immersed into an amazing world rich in lore and breaming with vivid characters, not to have every quest name, every other npc, and every other set piece as a knock off of my high school history and culture book. I have a feeling that MoP will be the most shameless yet...

Jul 1st 2009 6:11PM I'd like to know how smaller developers run circles around Blizzard in developing content. How long does Blizzard think people will be sated by daily quests, rep grinds, and "hard modes x4"?
May 28th 2009 2:19PM I think block as a mechanic has been broken for a long time. Functioning as a basically an armor modifier, it should be an all or nothing type of avoidance in my opinion. Either you block something with a giant badass shield of doom or you don't. And if you use a badass shield of doom that Kel'thuzad was guarding, it better do more than prevent a couple thousand damage.
From a lore/realistic perpsective, shield carriers wore them because they prevented damage, not reduced it slightly.
At least make it a mitigation that allows a couple thousand through, not prevents a couple thousand. Have a crappy shield? Then be prepared to eat large portion of the damage.
I also think it's funny that one of the biggest issues with changing block values is that warrior and pld DPS will be modified significantly. That's how you know when a stat has become convoluted.
May 13th 2009 5:22PM The Warglaives of Azzinoth without a doubt. Nothing has more "Oh man, check that out" factor.
May 13th 2009 2:23PM The grand prize winner was awful...was the ret monkey one of the judges?
May 12th 2009 1:40PM Would be nice to have "Update All" as an option, in!
